this letter from my solicitors:
Dear Mr Chamberlain
Other Party: East London Bus Company
Accident Date: 14th May 2007
We refer to the above matter and your e-mail of 13th September 2009.
We can confirm that as we have not received a response from the third party representatives in relation to our offer to settle, we have now placed papers before Counsel to settle the proceedings. Once we receive the papers from Counsel we shall then submit a copy to you whereafter we shall be in a position to put in hand civil proceedings.
We are likely to receive the draft Particulars of Claim from Counsel within the next three weeks and we will contact you immediately thereafter.
We would advise that once civil proceedings have been commenced the Court will issue and serve the same upon the Defendant. The Defendant will then have a period of approximately twenty one days following the issue of civil proceedings within which to take action failing which we shall be in a position to enter judgment on your behalf. If we enter judgment we will advise you of the position.
It is likely that the Defendant will nominate Solicitors who will be entitled if they so wish to apply for an extension of time within which to file a Defence. This extension is unlikely to exceed a period of fourteen days. Accordingly, once proceedings have been commenced there is unlikely to be any further progress in relation to your claim for approximately five or six weeks.
I assume that this means they are starting court proceedings against the bus company?
