Question ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TOPIC (Discuss)

Anyone recommend a good roadside assistance company,
MAny years ago Cortina days, I belonged to ill abbreviate (AA) my radiator when crack, i called the company theyarrived quikly chucking it down with rain,, on thw A12 19:00 hrs, the driver said ill be right back her turned up 30 mins later with a new radiator, that he got from i think Kenlees in Romford then fitted it on the side of the road, of course i paid, Fantastic, few years later in a escort xr3i the Warm up regulator went called the company turned up and once again supplied and fitted on the side of the road, Im not just saying that company is great,,
With my recent travels around 10.000 a year in my car and others we have had problems, we call the company ie AA or RAC they turn up example fan belt, say yes its broken, then they say have to take you to a main dealer and leave it there, Iv even had an exhaust changed on the side of the road,, just seems lately they dont wana get there hands dirty, OR is it something else. ori the only one who not ges the same quality of service,,
(in there defence technology has moved on and most cars have computer systems (ECU)

Anyone had similiar opinion or comments id be interested to know,

It all depends on the cover you take out - you need to check the small print - some policies are purely recovery only!

Perhaps they are no longer allowed to fix vehicles on the roadside - health & safety issues?

Last time I broke down one of our customers stopped & helped - and the husband? He drove past without stopping!!

Well if you have cover for Europe then surely you're covered - last time I checked we were part of Europe.

Dont get me started on the AA. Last year lin parked at lakeside by primark, directly below the mobile phone mast's. the AA arrived around 3 hours later to which i said we just need it towing out of the car park and hopefully the signal wont be as strong and we will be able to work the alarm again. Sorry sir we can't do that. Another 1 1/2 hours for the recovery to arrive. Drop off at home, i start the car and put it on the drive.

We've just gone with the RAC as they cover the person not the vehicle - ie if you are a passenger in another vehicle, that vehicle can be recovered.

This is a handy policy if you have several vehicles and it includes the business vehicles.

its just the home start, recov, hotel or replacement car etc etc,,think this was £70 and the £500 towards the repair bill was extra at £74
i got it from the supermarket as they offerd it cheaper than calling them up (so he said lol)

it covers most things ,, i got my mechanic to look over the small print ,and he said its ok and worth the money

When I went to Germany I took out RAC cover, blew the engine 5 miles from the hotel, called them and they had a mechanic there with in the hour, though he opened the bonnet took one look and closed it again! The RAC got the car on a transporter and and ferried it home, took 2 weeks but I got it back! Best £40 I spent!
