I have an idea about this ........ If the signs were to mysteriously disappear, the speed limits would then be illegal, as the speed limit is not displayed.

Wouldn't this be a shame?

I heard on the Radio today that where they have placed the cameras have caused accidents already!

When will government work out that accidents/deaths on roads is usually caused by driver error and driving to close and not due to the speed. If you keep the correct distance behind the car in front, you won't hit it, travelling 30 or 130 mph.

Just been up there and wondered what the speed limit is....?

It's the national speed limit sign along there, but I always thought that meant 60?

Ian, how did you pass a test?

60 on single carriage way, 70 on a dual carriage way, or as fast as you can go if you have a scoob!!!

Speed limit is going to be 50mph . I'm unfortunate in that i think someone is going to break the number plates on both my van and car in half so they can't be read . Oh dear . We all need to get bikes i think .

Taken from the Evening Echo site

Drivers travelling in both directions between the Dick Turpin pub and the Southend borough boundary will have to keep their cars to 50mph.

Between Nevendon and the Dick Turpin pub the current 70mph will stay in place, but both stretches will be watched by the new average cameras

All the 50 mph limit will do is make people crawl along at 30mph instead of 50 which they did when it was National Speed Limit !

and they'll still take 52 miles to get up to that speed

Nearly went up the back of a taxi yesterday who changed up to 2nd 4cm's after moving away from the lights. I swear that within 4 feet he was in 5th gear

Seriously though, I wonder how many others will do this? Could mean extra congestion on the A13.

im happy to sit at 50mph if its moving contantly for 20 mins or so.

personally i think they shoud make it a toll road, and you get your money back if you can drift it round the fortune of war chicane !!

So how does the spec system work, is there a central 'brain' for the whole system, and where would it be located ?

no need to know how they work, but there IS an option to mess them around!

As you enter the speed restrriction, make a note of what lane you are in, and then keep moving in/out as you see the scamera's approaching.

Workes every time, like the M1 scamera's!

Are you prepared to test that theory on the new ones on the A127 for us and report back?
