Smile Nice gesture by Grant & Imy . . . . .

. . . . . in recognition of my help in the early stages of getting the McRae Gathering up & running on here & on Scoobycity.

I received a package this morning & I am chuffed to bits. I was more than happy to help and I am sure I was but one of many & I certainly didn't expect this.

I know what a thankless task it can be organising events and how you can be on a hiding to nothing trying to please everybody. Which is why they had my wholehearted support & help right from the start. These guys did an amazing job and they still are doing an amazing job.

This is what was in the tube along with one of the new A1 posters. This was signed by some rally old timers at the McRae Forest Stages on 27th September 2008.

There are 12 names. How many do you recognise? Click on the picture to enlarge.

Mark

couldnt find any more from here:--

On the 27th of September 2008 the Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally took place in Perth, Scotland. An enhanced entry list of several former big name rally drivers took part in memory of Colin.[39] The impressive entry list included ex-World Championship drivers Hannu Mikkola, Ari Vatanen (partnered by his 1981 WRC winning co-driver David Richards), Björn Waldegård, Stig Blomqvist, Malcolm Wilson, Russell Brookes, Jimmy McRae, Andrew Cowan and Louise Aitken-Walker, many competing in their original cars. A handful of current WRC drivers also took part including Matthew Wilson, Kris Meeke and Travis Pastrana. The event was deemed a great success, attracting record spectator numbers to the Perthshire forests. Outright winner was Stobart VK M-Sport Ford Rally Team driver Matthew Wilson in a Ford Focus WRC. Fittingly, Colin's brother Alister McRae won the classic category.

Plus :- Derek Ringer, Nicky Grist, Paul Howarth and not forgetting Ken (have you seen the video?) Block.

And here are all of them in action apart from Paul Howarth. :-

thank you

it helped us no end that someone was batting our corner and filtering the event info to folk that did not know what was going on.

it freed us up from answering an avalanche of queries and let us get on with doing stuff.

By some quirk of fate I got my print back from the framers today.

Even with a fairly narrow border it still ends up 38" x 14.5" but it has sturdy fixtures & fittings & little felt pads at each corner.

They did such a good job I have left the signed sticker with them so they can do the same brushed aluminium frame & black mount for it as well.

They will put a clear back on it so you can still read the label with the names of the drivers signatures on it.
