Default Maldon Mud Race - 4th January

Yes it's that time of year again, the mad, bad & freezing cold Maldon Mud Race is on the 4th January.

Those that have been before will know exactly what this entails, those that haven't will be surprised to see semi clad maniacs in fancy dress and swimming costumes trying to run across the mud flats, through the river and back again in aid of charity

The quickest people do it in a matter of minutes, the remainder take up to an hour

Who's coming?

1. Milamber & family

Get there early, wrap up warm.

Some people manage to get to the other side via heybridge basin, bit of a walk in wellies but it's empty over there.

Wouldn't get there much later than 10am. It was getting quite busy by then, last year. Aim for the green shelter, that is used for signing on, and we will try to get a space on the wall in that area.

Not divvy questions at all, I only know because this will be year 3 for us.

Last year we parked at the Blackwater leasure centre, which is about 200yards past the park, also got the big chinese restaurant car park there too. I think, last year, the parking within the park was for disabled and competitors only.

oh jeez tell me about it.....

Massive numbers of spectators and 250 competitors. Even one bloke dressed as the stig

The first few mad it across the line before most of the field made it across the river - seriously. This is the first year I've ever seen people give up

Only half I would say managed to get across the river and up the bank the first time round, the mud got chewed up so badly that it was just impossible to get across, we left an hour after it started and there were still loads of people struggling to get across...

Great fun but I'm still trying to warm up..
