Seeing as both of our cars (Gooners work car excluded) needed replacement gearboxes, after giving up the ghost to find one for the Disco - I decided to concentrate the efforts on the Sccob - cause she;s sorely missed

Anyhow, had the car recovered to Justin and the team at Carnage. Provided the gearbox company with the gearbox number in our car currently - not rocket science you'd think. Paid for it on the Friday, it arrived late Tuesday night (from viet-bloody-nam you'd think). Anyhow, Carnage call me up on Wednesday last week to advise its the wrong gearbox

Apparently, the gearbox that had been delivered didn't even have a gearbox number on it but was thought to be from an RA of a car older than ours MY99. Anyhow, called the chaps up and explained, they apologised and "couldn't understand why that had happened" and promised to send the CORRECT gearbox out that night.

Finally TODAY, my gearbox arrived at Carnage............. the wrong fecking one - this time it did have a number on it and I was wondering for the sake of stupidity if these two numbers look alike to ANYONE on here:

Mine: HLTY754VN1AA and 43TY752XR1BA

Now unless I'm otherwise mistaken (which wouldn't be unknown) this is totally bloody ridiculous as those two numbers are totally bloody different????


Aarrrrrggggghhhh - Justin at carnage called me before signing the documents and eventually ended up sending it packing back along its vacational trip somewhere to outta mongolia - unfortunatly, the couriers would not take back the original incorrect gearbox - so if anyone wants an RA gearbox - give Carnage a call

I'll be taking a full refund - but that'll probably take an eternity

Justin and the lads at Carnage have been great - VERY patient in all of this messing around. Another one of those things that wasn't supposed to take long and should've had the car back friday latest - has now developed into me finding another one (which I have )....... the correct one I might add - so now just need my refund to purchase it

LOL - sorry. I couldn't give a hoot about naming and shaming as I doubt anyone here works for them or has a particularly good relationship WITH them - their name is Wyeside Garage, Monmouth, Gwent.

and I'd avoid them like the bloomin plague

Just spoke to WHYSIDE GARAGE, and apparently they wont issue me a refund until the original incorrect gearbox is returned safely to their garage! Apparently they've had incidents in the past whereby they issue a refund and then the item that comes back isn't the item they sent out

I did ask how they know what they sent out because it has no gearbox number etc etc - and they have "security stamps". Carnage Performance however say there's nothing on there that they feel could distinguish it - I can see this ending in a visit to Gwent LOL

On the plus side - i have found another gearbox - just need the refund to purchase it

Not sure but I think I tried them. Tried a few closer places and more well known, but no joy at most
