Mounting the McRae Gathering sticker
This is mainly for those with a MENCAP rally plaque mounting plate.
After Fozzy mentioned the MENCAP mounting plate & the McRae sticker at the fete I have been having a bit of an experiment. Unfortunately the sticker is bigger than the rally plaques & overhangs at each end by about 3/4". It can't be trimmed as it would take the edge of a letter away from both sides & look naff.
Did anyone other than me donate a fiver for one of the old surplus 2004 plaques when we went in 2005? If you did then you are in luck as they are a tad bigger than the 2007 & 2008 ones & I just had to open up the holes at one end & make two new ones at the other & it was ready to go.
I gave the sticker a little trim with my sharpy sharp knife & stuck it to the white back face of the 2004 plaque. All you lose is the red line at each end.
Then I cut the sticker away where it covered two of the holes & it was ready to bolt to the ally mounting plate.
If you don't have the 2004 one then any thin sheet of plastic similar to it would do and it has got to be better than making up another ally plate as it will be much easier to cut out the plastic.
Of course you can still mount them by any of the ways suggested on the list that they put in with the stickers.
Won't look so good though.
