Default Admiral Insurance anyone??

I was just wondering if anyone used Admiral, just had a quote of £338 (fully comp, me and missus, under 5000 miles/pa, 9 years ncb, protected ncb, £500 excess or £394 for £250 excess).....is this good compared to others in Essex?
Been using Keith Michaels for many years but this time they have let me down quite badly....forgetting to even get quotes let alone renewing my policy and I have rung them a few times in the last 3-4 weeks reminding them that time was ticking, not Moley but another guy there.
So had a look around today and Admiral came up cheapest but has anyone got any experiences of them, good or bad??
Cheers

Only downside is the poxy call centre in India , if you try to contact them at the weekend or evenings be prepared for a struggle with the language barrier ...Oh and everyone in their call centre is called Kevin (not your run of the mill Indian name !!)

I used Admiral to start with, then went on LV and have finished up at KM.

No problems with Admiral, although they did start to get expensive once the mods started appearing

Mine too, has given me great service
maybe worth giving KM a call and actually speak to Gary himself.

I avoid them like the plague, worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.

They totally bodged my claim, and their team of solicitors were a bunch of total W's.

This was a few years back now, but after the level of service I always warn people off them.

I would not let them insure me even if it was for free.

Neil, I'll try to get those details you wanted this weekend mate, its been manic here.

I would be amazed if Gary in person can't beat admiral prices TBH

I have used Admiral before for cheap policies but they are rubbish to deal with. My brother had a claim against Highways and they were very good at avoiding paying out against a genuine non fault claim. I would want them on my side

ALWAYS speak to Gary. Never EVER get a quote from anyone at KM other than Gary. They have some weird in-house rules there that mean that once you've spoken to someone then you are forever their client regardless of whether you went through with the quote or not...

You always have a freedom of choice of Solicitor, I could have recommended you a good one

I spoke to Gary and have gone with Admiral. The price ended up being higher due to me reducing the excess amount and the claim which I was told had been sorted out because the ULR people had made a mistake, not having been sorted out!!!
Shame really because KM had always been good for the last 6/7 years but this time really let me down. I`ll give Admiral a year and see if KM can do better next time round.

thats a shame, however i will say that for the kind of money we pay on insurance, i strongly believe quality of service definately plays a bigger role than price alone. And i can honestly say that Gary has sorted out other peoples troubles with great efficiency.
As the saying goes though.... yer pays your money, yer takes yer choice...

wishing you another claim free year

Sorry wasnt very clear, that was Admiral.

In the end, after 2 years battling my case with Admiral to push it forwards. I took the guy to court myself, got my no-claims reinstated and the money it had cost me.

Admiral were totally useless throughout.

Thats the problem though, I have paid my money and still haven`t got a renewal even though my policy expired on 26/04/08, can`t get calls answered or returned and it appears as though a slight mistruth may have been told to me regarding an incident in 2005!!!
Gary was very helpful but unable to help due to the reasons Milamber stated, so time for a change.

We've always used Admiral, our new quote just come in and its About £500 cheaper than last year, still makes ours £1500 a year though fully comp, they always been cheaper than anywhere else that we've tried.
Also whenever we search for a quote and even with Admiral our car comes up as an STI and its not, is this a common problem???

I looked at both of tescos insurances but they were more expensive. I got my renewal notice yesterday from KM and it was £500 dearer than Admiral ......I will try Moley again next year as apart from obviously wanting to save money I do prefer using a broker where you get to speak to the same person rather than Alan from Mumbai.

Just in general, I have had really bad customer service from Admiral. I recently needed to change my type of policy when I moved home (I used to have a joint policy with my brother). I phoned up to ask them to cancel the joint policy and make 2 seperate policies... they told me they had cancelled the joint policy, told me to phone sales to set up the seperate policies then hung up! I then phoned the sales line and sat on hold to Sales for over 45 minutes and never got through in that time. It prompted me to go elsewhere for insurance.

I phoned Admiral 2 weeks later chasing my proof of NCD to find out that they never even cancelled the policy when I requested! It took Admiral nearly 2 months to sort thier act out, send through the paperwork and cancel the policy after 6 lengthy phonecalls. I will not be using them again!

I was with Admiral on my Supra's and Clio V6 and never had any issues

However, you only ever seem to get issues when you claim.

Anyone ever had issues prior to claiming on insurance?
