Default I'm in the dark

I have returned home tonight with three grubby kids hoping to throw them into the bath and then off them to bed - but sadly - as I opened my front door my dog had left me a surprising welcome - she'd jumped her door (4ft) and wrecked my house - turner and hooch styleeee. She's pulled down and smashed my breadbin and puled the kids cake making kit off the side and shaken icing sugar and flour all through my living room - then proceeding to dribble over it to ensure a good consistency in my effing carpet

Once I had launched her out and ploughed through the house - i discovered that I have no lights - at all!!!! On further inspection - the fuse has gone

No spare fuse wire (as its that ancient set up) and now i'm here - in the dark. To make tea i have to open my fridge door and lets just say i managed to hoover and clear the debris before the last bit of light had gone totally! I can't let the bloody dogs in cause i'm livid with them and to top it all off - i have a back ache from hell

sympathy pleast

No torches, candles, table lamps etc? What do you do when there is a power cut?

I'm sure you will get it sorted soon...... think positive!

generally speaking - i've never had a problem with the dogs jumping the barn style door - their BIG dogs and aren't known for being anything but large, slobbery plodders - not known for anything agile at all.

And mine would go mental in a crate - would've been different had it been done as a puppy - but having a utility room it was never an issue!

As for torches - my kids seem to have killed all the batteries and i'm a bit "fire aware" to have candles and I've got no lamps either (what a div eh?) -- never had a power cut in the night before so never really gave it much though before!

Totally sympathise been through this a few times with our dog who turned the hob on and burnt an apple pie on top of it and smoked the house out.
We now have a crate no more bother

What about using the fuse for upstairs when your down stairs, then putting it back when your upstairs.
Cause this will only work if you have an upstairs.

Nice to see you today & hope you get it sorted.

LOL - i think we'll just ensure that both parts of the utility door are bolted. We do have an upstairs - but one fuse services all - so no lights upstairs or downstairs.

Stil, its daylight now - so problem solved for the next 12 hours

Paul & Bon - nice to see you again too - when the next macdonalds outing LOL
