Engine should be out this week. So the real damage can be seen. Im no real expert. But as what frayz said above looking at the state of that rod.

We pulled that rod out of the hole it made.

Easy for me to say here its a bolt failure. However, without seeing the rest of the internals in person i couldnt say if that was the cause or a result.

Also not knowing the data, ie load, rpm and conditions etc its hard to say why it went.

I'd like to see the rest of the internals though.

Need to see the rest of it though before being able to diagnose why the bolt failed. There will be hundreds of telltale signs within.

Like piecing together a crime and motive lol
