White Wheels..... Pah... Who want's a laugh??
Whose idea was it to buy ruddy white wheels………..
Most of you know by now that me and cleaning cars don’t exactly mix too well – so what did I do recently – buy a set of ruddy white wheels….. I ask you – what was I thinking about…….
I kept them on for one week, then as everyone suggested that I put some sealant on them, I popped down to Matt who kindly sold me a pot of that Poorboys stuff (looks and smells like bubble gum….) and he kindly showed me how to apply it on one of my wheels.
As time was running out that day – I was happy to PAY matt to do them all (remember – me actually cleaning my car (or wheels) MYSELF is as rare as hens teeth) so after a bit of texting we arranged that he would meet me up at the HWH meet and take ‘em away.
To do this, I swopped the white wheels back to the gold ones and put the white wheels into the car (took me about an hour to change all four wheels over) and popped off to the HWH, where Phil also had the excellent wheel bags for me that are up on the SIDC site, as I wanted the new wheels to be nice and protected.
Well impressed with those wheel bags by the way – recommended to anyone who is thinking about them.
Matt unfortunately didn’t make the HWH, so the wheels came all the way back to Harlow. As it was late at night, I decided to not go to my garage to unload them (about a mile away) and instead hauled them up to my flat, one by one – BTW do realise how HEAVY those wheels are…… Phew…. !! First one wasn’t too bad, but the third and fourth were buggers…..
OK – so they are now on my living room floor, all four of them……. Three days later, they were STILL there, getting in the way….. So I bit the bullet and decided to DO THE DAMN CLEANING MYSELF – God knows why I had this mad moment……. If only I had known…………..
Geez – they were filthy….. How can they get that filthy after a weeks use…..
On went a towel onto the coffee table…… and the first wheel was heaved on.
Two kitchen rolls, three sponges and dirty buckets later…..(and three more days) they were all clean of the muck…. So taking a deep breath a “clean” wheel was heaved back onto the coffee table and loads of bubblegum (sorry – Poorboys) was smothered all over the outside.
and then four coats later, the inside as well….
That took another 2 days to do that ONE wheel – cursing myself, I eventually got down and did the other three, all with four coats, inside and out, and eventually got them all done………..
I actually used Half a Tub of the bubble… oops - Poorboys – so it had better work…..
Wheels all cleaned are now in their wheel bags ready to be put into the garage for the time being – then I will quickly give a quick wipe over before I put them on the car for a Scooby Event….
As I DON’T clean anything on my car myself (thank god for the local Taliban Washes) – I thought you lot would appreciate (and laugh) at the work I’ve done – although I will be VERY reluctant to do this ever again……
Ho Hum………
