Default Info. regarding Dyno Day at EA

Following all that's been said about the recent Rolling Road Day at EA, I thought I had to say a few words.....

Firstly, I'm gutted about Simon57's car.... I know the cost of loosing an engine

Further more, I feel that as there had been many Rolling Road days at EA in the past, they would be safe enough to use for this event.... (I have used them personally several times in the past and have had great service)

I can't comment on the fact if they should have used monitoring equipment or not.... I've been to loads of events and most haven't......?

As for Nates issue.... I'm surprised and regret how they dealt with him....

As for his comments regarding the figures being out? All I can do is contact them asking for clarification about this......?

If it transpires that the rollers were out, I will of course speak to them regarding compensation.

Thanks Ian

Fair comments, although you should in no way whatsoever feel responsible.

Agree with Frayz, Ian you are not responsible for any *possible* problems on the day.

Maybe they thought they would ruin peoples days *if* the rollers were out, and carried on, maybe they were not out, I wasn;t there, but thought it best to bring the bearing issue to light.

I just wasn't satisfied with the way they dealt with me, and I personally will not be putting any custom their way from now on.

From what I heard, you organised a good day, and should not feel responsible.

It was a superb day. Both Ben and I had a great time.

Big shame about Simon's car and IMO all too easy to say "why didn't they use...blah,blah" after the event rather than saying "make sure they use..." beforehand.

As for the figures, mine seemed about right for the minimal mods done.

alright all you darn sarf!!!! i dont mean to pour salt into the wound, but the dyno day we had at AET in normanton a couple of weeks back, with the WYIOC was fantastic, very well organised, and the guys at AET were fab. it was my first time on a dyno, and they explained what they were doin, how it worked etc... i think all the club events, whether it be ESC, NYSOC or WYIOC are very well organised and its a shame that something happens to go wrong..

Pubtalk again How can or were they out? What do you use as a baseline?
Most had their fun Sunday, let's leave it at that.

IMO I feel their bhp figure was close enough.
I use Ecuteks Delta Dash product for my power 'estimations' and with the correction figure I apply they seem to match EA's power figures with EAs torque figure reading lower. On the way upto EA I ran 350ftlbs/410bhp on Deltadash, EA's rollers showed 328ftlbs/417bhp.
On Clive Atthowes RR both power and torque match the DD figures using my correction.
From the log of my run on Sunday peak boost (1.4bar) wasn't until 3800rpm running in 5th gear - on the road in 5th it hits peak boost (1.5bar) at 3100rpm - not a very good simulation of your engines power delivery.

Things that alarmed me Sunday, runs continuing with KnockLinks glowing red, fans off during set-up including running between 3000 and 4000rpm whilst loaded up causing inlet temperatures to rocket - my car has a good cold air feed and saw close to 60 degrees, 53WRX's car was above 70degrees and they were going to run it until I asked them not to until the temperatures were brought under control. DCCD's not locked.

Inlet temperatures would go some way to explaining Budgies 60bhp deficit, although a genuine 500 from a stock location blower is pushing it

Si's figures were about right for a pushed GT53R.

FYI, EA were aware of a mechanical issue with their rollers before Sunday.

I don't know what this means but I am very grateful Zak sat in for my run. TBH whilst it was fun (for some) on sunday, I am left feeling slightly disconcerted by the EA Rolling Road experience, which actually doesn't feel very nice.

Just for info Zak.... I agree their set-up is not ideal for cooling but we knew that before.....

As for DCCD not locked off.... I forgot to set it, but when I drove my car off the rollers noticed they had locked it for me....... They must of forgotton the others?

I think your right mate.... most people had fun and it's probably best left at that....? I noticed people on the day saying their figures matched est. results so I'm not sure it was miles out...?
