matt, i'm no mechanic but after speaking with 1 or 2 others i have been lead to believe that there may be no prob with the brakes at all. Could be a wheel bearing/hub that is the problem.

make sure the wheel nuts are tight and then jack the car up. if there's a problem with the bearing or the hub, chances are the wheel will have play in it. push and pull on opposite sides of the wheel. also when you drive the car you'll get a drone that increases with speed. i've never heard of bearings causing problems with the brakes but it is possible i guess as they may over heat quickly causing the pads to glaze.

it has started to make a drone and an awful knocking noise. From what i've been informed if i hit the brakes and nothing happens then pump them and they work, this could be a bearing/hub gone.

As i've said though i'm no mechanic and the car is now off the road for a bit until i decide next week....watch this space lol

Sounds to me like an air lock, or the master cylinder seals have gone. With a naff wheel bearing, it will be droning and possibly the car pulling to what ever side the bearing has gone, if it's starting to seize up. Plus with a duff bearing, the will be play as the bearings have run dry and starting to deteriorate

Is the brake pedal spongey at all?

If you want, I've got some DOT5 fluid in the garage and I'll bleed the brakes, chances are that it's just an air lock, or a piston siezed, obviously can't tell with out looking, but the offer is there and it won't cost you, apart from a drink

Hi,

To be honest I thought people would be more grown up about this!
Yes, you have problems with your car, and so does everyone else who own a Scooby! And yes, Jamie has worked on your car, replaced what seemed to be the problem, and charged you for it, it's just unfortunate that, thats not what is causing your problem. Life would be so much easier if our Scoobys could TELL us what the problem is!
Jamie has had enough of people bringing their car down to be worked on, paying half the price that other Subaru companies would charge, and then when something else goes wrong, Jamie/ESB gets slated on these forums, and get called every name under the sun. Instead, be grown up about it and talking to us face to face!
Jamie is on his own, he is the ONLY mechanic working here, so we are sorry if he doesn't return calls... no one complains about other companies failing to return calls!!

If you want to TALK to Jamie or ESB, then come down and have a chat, but don't turn into one of those cowards who sit behind your computer slating!

Regards

Emma

Em, would love to talk to jamie rather than talk about it on here....but how can i if he does not return my calls and the times i have been able to pop in he has been away??!!! so how the bloody hell can i talk to the fella when he is harder to get hold of than the invisable man!!!

I am not dealing with any other company, i am dealing with ESB.

My point now is, if he or previous employees werent sure or did not know what the problem was with my car, tell me that in the first place. Not charge me TWICE now for the same problem and no fix.

I would like to point out as well , i havent called anyone any names, just stated FACTS.

Have also said in the past i do actually like Jamie, he came across as a pleasant chap, however this has gone beyond liking people, this is now just about business.

As for the price, i have also stated in previous comunications i have now not paid Much less than other subaru garages.

I really did not want things to turn out like this, but how would you feel if you were being told a MAJOR problem with your car, which can i add wasnt there before it went to ESB, could cause a major issue whilst you are on the roads has been repared, only for you to be out in the car and the issue is still there?!

And as for being a coward behind a computer....please see my first paragraph above.

I thank you.
