Jamie

Perhaps you can give us some more details of what you are trying to achieve.

As a newbie, you are probably not aware of the history of this BBS. Basically, comments slagging off suppliers almost lead to the board being closed down. Therefore, people maybe less forthcoming than you might want.

For the record, I use Cheam Motors in Surrey - sales and support first rate.

Cool

Actually, I just re-read your post and seen that you were registered in Dec98. So you might know what has been going on!! Anyway - points made above are still relevant.

Walldonway in Maidstone have been good to me.
All warranty work (and there has been a few problems) sorted quickly and easily. My spoiler was stolen whilst car was parked overnight outside their premises ready for service the next day and they replaced it F.O.C. I would buy from them again. Any more details required email me

I bought my MY99 from Vale Motors in Wincanton. Sales staff very mixed - the manager was "old-school" know-it-all, but they had a young salesman who really knew his tuff, and was extremely helpful, etc.
Efficient but not too friendly service from Bell and Colvill.
Excellent accident repair service from Lancaster Pangbourne, and very efficient service too.
Why do both of the latter wash you car and then not bother chamoising it? It has usually been washed and chamoised not less than five days before going in, and so is usually looking fairly good, then comes back with streaks and water stains all over the paintwork....

Lancaster Sevenoaks

Overall a good service but without fail there is always a need to go back or ring back because something is not quite right. They seem to mean well but need a little assistance in the 'finishing off' department.
Only other moan is they seem rather expensive.

Jamie,

Somewhat nearer to your profile address than the others, but still not exactly on your doorstep, Robinson's Rochdale. Top job. Services £82 (7.5k) and £150(15000k) all inclusive. They publish all their charges, where possible, in advance and I have never felt uneasy with them.

I'll be back!

Lancaster Pangbourne - bought the car from there, very helpful. Took it back 3 weeks after purchase to have some ex P1 alloys fitted, ie. very quick job, and the car was washed at the same time (well, not exactly at the same time!).

Carstins at Balsall Common - just had an intermediate service plus front discs, pads, heatshield welded back together (trackday methinks..). Total cost £490, car was with them exactly 24 hours and it wasn't washed. Did get to use their Justy for a day though.
I must admit to hating all the 'my car wasn't cleaned to x y z standard' posts but after forking out that kind of dosh a quick sprinkle with a hose shouldn't be too much trouble ?

Osborne's Colcester

Arranged to have a test drive and when I turned up they let me have the demo car unattended.

Didn't have to wait to get my W-reg, phoned up and they had one in stock?!

Upgraded wheels to ST2's and they stored the original wheels for a few weeks while I sold them.

No complaints so far,
James

Days of Chelmsford

Excellent allround service. Sales team very helpful and made a huge effort to find someone who would take x2 Peugeot 206GTIs (in bright orange)off their hands as trade in against x2 MY00.
We eventually sold the cars back to the Peugeot dealer they were bought from, but Days took them off our hands and delivered them to the Peugeot dealer.

Had 2 MY00 cars in stock, in the right colour with a reasonable discount.

Aftermarket aircon in one of the cars has been unreliable but the dealer has been excellent in attempting to get the problem fixed - even lent me the Service Managers car for the day when all other courtesy cars were out.

really must add a spell checker to scoobynet

Sales
Aug 99 - Good, but had to be prodded : brought a demo to my office for test drive when I complained that their "we only give test drives on Thursday afternoons" was not a good way to attract a potential customer .
Never did send me the PPP specs and prices that I asked for.

Service
Excellent - always had loan car or one of their staff will collect the car on his way to work and return it in the evening. Usually manage to fix things first time. Replaced my juddering clutch & flywheel under warranty at 25,000 miles.

Ashburton Motor Works

Sales - very helpful. let me take their demo out for a drive at lunchtime and then let me arrange to have it again for a saturday afternoon so i could have a longer session. And most importantly they didn't want to come with me !! unlike another local dealer. They did not know me or anything about me at this time. Located the car i wanted from another dealer and shipped it down and changed the stereo from my old car to the new one. Gave me a loan car whilst changing the stereo over. Plus got a discount

Service - very helpful. only had 1000 mile so far, 7.5k in a week or 2.

Bentleys of Knaresbrough

Bit closer to you Jamie.

Sales, no real experience as i bought a new car they had in stock (my99 5door green), but where very helpful when i placed deposit by phone and got the car ready for me to pick up next day.

After sales, very hepful and cheapest i have found. Even though it is further to travel than the nearest dealer i use them as they have been great, even fittng me in on a saturday morning for a service with only two days notice.

If you need further info email me

Lavender Hill Garage,

Service: Excellent
Sales: Excellent
OVERALL: Excellent

The service manager is a Scooby Nut himself, and that really helps.
Basically, I've used them for a year and they are the best I've ever experienced.

Lavender Hill Garage, In Enfield, North London, 500 yards from my front door.

Pretty Good overall. Always helpful and freindly and they do make a real effort to look after you and don't take the **** on the pricing side.

No real grumbles with them and would happilly recommend them to anyone.

Cartsins _ Balsall Common, Nr Coventry

Assisted me sort out two faults on my car which involved an IM engineer looking at it and for the second fault getting a Sigma alarm engineer (one that actually worked for Sigma) to look at my car.

For the alarm issue, my local dealer, Lancasters, Pangbourne point blankly refused to get a Sigma engineer to look at it.

TNS Downham Market service very good , service manager excellent without a hint of the modern trend towards **** licking and bull**** you usually get from some dealers . one salesman a bit sniffy about my dutch import , I believe he is mr "T" in TNS, which is understandable , but generaly they acknowledge the reasons why

TH White Cirencester,

I purchased an older used model.

Sales Very nice, helpful, took my ratty old MR2 as PX got me a fair price.

The Subaru had a major (expensive) problem 2 weeks later, they sorted the entire thing under warenty and I had a loan car for the duration.

Service: Again Helpful, offer a loan car, always done when they say, They remember my name and the car.

Overall Very good.
