A worrying week coming up

A worrying week coming up
As I've posted previously, I've gone for a job at Seal Graphics in Basildon, as a mechanical fitter, the interview couldn't of gone better and now they've offered me the job and got an appointment on Tuesday to see the Head Engineer.
I've worked at Calor for 9 1/2 years, and the thought of leaving a safe permanent job for a new role is scaring the cr@p out of me. In one hand, I'm glad to be leaving Calor, but at the same time don't want to leave.
I know the job at Seal has better prospects than Calor and is better for my career, but I'll be the new boy in a strange factory.

Good luck with your career move Paul.
It's always daunting knowing if you've done the right thing.
I am sure once you have settled in you will be fine.
Just don't mention your strange habits.

Hi Paul,
It's Natalie posting on Dave's login lol.
I know better than most how comfortable calor can be
but it's really not what it once was and to tell you the truth
i couldn't be happier now i'm out of there.
Once you get in a new job you see how bad calor is really ,
i did.
Enjoy your new job you deserve it after 9 long years at calor.
It wont take long to settle you know your stuff
good luck to you.
Natalie.

Congrats Paul.
It's always good to move out of one's comfort zone.
Peeps who stay within their comfort zone will never achieve more than they already have, but the few, like yourself ,who are bold enough to take risks can always aim for the sky.
Good luck and don't worry about a thing.
Go strut 'ya stuff' me ol' mucker !!!!!

You don't need luck Paul, when you can do the job standing on your head.
In a couple of months you will wonder what all the fuss is about.
Enjoy mate

Good Luck Paul
As everyone else has said sometimes you need to make a change, I have been at the same company for 20 years
But I look to move every 2-3 years internally to keep from becoming institutionalised and help[s to keep up the interest in going to work.
If the people you work with are beginning to grate on you then going to work becomes a chore rather than something you don't mind doing, then the hours days and weeks seem to take forever to pass.

Thanks everyone!
David, you're absolutely right, I do enjoy the actual job - part of my job is to design and build new machinery, and to modify existing machines to get the best out of them.
The problem is that I feel I'm being taken for granted, unfortunately for me, I can do every job - Driving 40ft lorries (shunting), forklifts, filling gas tankers, ordering enough gas for the daily demand, health and safety inspections, accident investigations and so I don't really know what I'm doing from one day to the next, if I refuse to do a job, then it's a disciplinary. I'm the most experienced person on the plant but Betts and I are on the same money yet I've got a lot more responsibilities and am more qualified.
I've put my views across to the management, and they can't see a problem so I feel this is my only other choice now.
I must be respected a little bit as it's shocked a few high up people, and they don't want me to go, but do understand my reasons

I won't be able to make them at work if I get the new job, but I do intend clearing my garage out once and for all so that I can get to my work bench and start projects in there.
To be honest, I have been having second thoughts about working on people's cars but I'll only get bored, so when I finally get sorted out, I'll be starting a new (part time) business with insurance, etc and doing things properly, ie invoicing etc.
I am looking into making a knock link type of warning system, got the display sorted out and working fine, now just got to get a knock sensor and connect it up
