Default Do Mocom do exhausts?

Anybody got one? Im looking for a centre pipe and jap style back box to release the burble and looking on their website they only have prices for classics or JDMs

Im thinking about the afterburner system, but would rather shop local to me. Do Mocom custom make them or do they sell named brands?

Cheers

Mocom can get anything.... but don't make them.

I believe Zak can get whatever you want from Hayward and Scott, and I dare say other manufacturers. I have the H&S centre and Jap BB and its great. Give Zak a call, leave a message you won't be disappointed

£333.71 would be book price, but if you collect from Ian (H&S) he might do you a discount if he is not fitting it ? Ian is a really nice guy and is usually pretty good at sorting out favourable prices for club members. If its just a centre and BB, Ian can fit that in a matter of minutes if you drive over there. I am over there soon for a decat rear centre and refitting of the parts that came off my 53WRX, his products and fitting are spot on.

Hayward & Scott is okay, does the job but the quality of their finish is somethinmg to be desired. I have a full custom 3" hayward system on mine and it works okay but i dont think id buy from them again.

If you want a proper bit of kit id go to Matt @ Simpsons or the guys @ Primary Designs. You'll pay proper money but get a proper job. Not like Haywards are cheap either.. they seem to charge the earth too

The more Hayward & Scott systems i see the more i call em Hayward & Snot!!

Personally I've had several items off them and never had an one fail......?

I've also never heard of anyones H&S system fail, but I might have been lucky?

As for quality of finish.... I'm not overly concerned about untidy welds on a part that 90% of the time I'll never see.....

BUT..... everyone has an opinion

P.S. I currently have a full H&S system with a "jap" rr box and my only issue is that I think it's actually too loud.

Mine is still too loud.. but thats neither here nor there.
Check your downpipe to gearbox mount, i bet you its snapped as they all do.

Welds arnt the worst but certainly not the best and i dont like the "necking" on the pipework where the bends are. This is poo for flow. I also find that the stainless used tarnishes very easily.

Its the flow issue that bothers me the most. Like i said though, it does its job, however i personally want that job doing better.

For the bits your after, centre and BB, I would personally go H&S. However, if its just burble your after, I would start with the centre de-res and see how you get on.

Email Matt @ Simpsons... http://www.simpsonraceexhausts.com/index.html

Or speak to the guys at Primary Designs. primary designs - racecar exhausts - specialist welding and fabrication

Be aware that PD make the inconel manifolds for the WRC imprezas, we looked at these at the Autosport show this year and the quality is an absolute work of art.

Not cheap though.. £2400+VAT for a set.

No offence but you can't compare H&S with PD products if the prices are that different .....

An audio system by Sony will give you a decent quality and will probably last a life time..... but is it as good as a Linn System? Of course not, but it's £3k cheaper...

Personally, I'm just spending similar money on an engine rebuild that you spend on a exhaust system.

Is the PD system worth £2k more?

In short.. yes. TH PD manifold is a properly researched bit of kit including an uppipe and is all inconel. Inconel is approx 4x more expensive than stainless.

A full 3" turbo back system from H&S will stand you in about a grand, a full turbo back system from Simpsons will probably cost not much more.

For me the exrta money is always worth it.

I dont see the point of buy i performance car and cutting corners...

Corner cutting should be left for the track.

Okay ive just spoken to Pat at PD,

The headers i was thinking of are the actual WRC ones and come in at £2400+VAT. The ones for the road car can be made in stainless for £950+VAT or out of inconel for £1250+VAT.

Well reasonable in my opinion!!!

It's not really worth mentioning Simpson's as they only supply trade afaik

We stock the Revolution systems which are a true 3", downpipes can be had with or without sports cat and the systems are some of the quietest around hence why we use them with the strict noise limits found at certain tracks.

Tested on a newage WRX

Standard WRX system
60db @ Idle
79db @ 4500rpm

Revolution decat 3" system
76db @ Idle
92db @ 4500rpm

H&S decat 3" system Japspec tailpipe
Idle not tested
109db @ 4500 rpm

H&S sports cat 3" system quiet backbox
Idle not tested
98db @ 4500rpm

H&S decat 3" system Japspec tailpipe
Idle not tested
109db @ 4500 rpm

That is bloody loud when you consider that the air horn I have fitted is 139db and I wouldn't want that in my lugs all day long.
