Angry Collision with Deer Today

Well a nice little trip along the A1060 at Roxwell, Chelmsford turned to disaster this afternoon when a stag decided he wanted to play chicken with the car .

Not bloody impressed .

Insurance company are recommending County Motor Works at Chelmsford as the repairers.

Anyone had GOOD or BAD experiences with them.

As i am sure its the same with you all, i worry when its out of my sight and i want the repair to be flawless.

It definately needs new headlight, bonnet, air intake duct, cross member (definaterly top, possibly bottom also) and anything else which has been pushed backwards and misaligned in the impact.

At least it was my car that was hit and not the poor lady motorcyclist directly behind me.

Any comments on County Motor Works appriciated.

Bruddy hell mate, glad you're ok. I believe I used to know someone who worked at County? Are they just up from the Britvic Roundabout by any chance? If so they seemed to be a professional outfit.

BTW, you would have missed it had you been a Class 1

Actually i was under braking before it had even entered the road as i had seen it about to emerge from the field.....which is why i AM Class 1 Advanced as hopefully i will demonstrate on the 27th .

Mind you are there any deers in Warwick ??

So in effect the damage isn't as much as it could have been if i was going a wee bit faster and didn't see it. Plus, we could have had a deer sitting on our lap had it come through the screen if it had ridden up onto the bonnet.

So i guess we are lucky in some aspects.

I have had no dealings with County Motor Works. But when I had a little coming together around my nether regions I used these guys in Maldon. They also did a respray on my bonnet & touched up a few stone chips prior to that & the colour match was perfect. Not easy with a Graphite Black car.

Attention to detail was second to none. They even redid the Supagard treatment over the whole car,not just the new bits. Repairs are guaranteed under the same terms as the vehicle manufacturer & run throughout any unexpired manufacturers warranty or for 5 years from the date of the repair, whichever is longer.

Speak to Lee & mention my car & that you do car shows the same as I do & he will treat it like a "show" car rather than a runabout.

Ouch.

Temporary repair.

Thats a bit mean Mark, reversing back over it !

They must have done a good job, I have an eye for such things and I never suspected when I saw it on Zaks ramps back in March.

Mate of mine used to work there.. i have no idea what theyre like now mate.

If i had the choice to take my car anywhere if the insurance co were paying then id go to Main Road bodyshop in South Woodham Ferrers.

A mate of mine has a concours fiesta turbo and is the most **** guy ive ever known... he wont go anywhere else and i can wholeheartedly say that theyre the best bodyshop i know thats local bar none.

Quality of finish is absolutely flawless on everything ive seen come out of them.

Glad your ok Tissy, sounds like it could have been a whole lot worse if you hadn't seen it first

I hit a Deer in South Weald a few years ago, although my Series III Land Rover didn't notice a thing, not even a scratch on the bull bar

Also hit a Badger after having my brand new WRX bugeye for 6 whole weeks, nowhere near as big as a Deer but it scared the cr4p out of me and my ex-girlfriend and mangled my bumper, wing and fog light

Good luck with getting it fixed, hope all goes well

Went to see it in the "Hospital" today. Its a little down in the dumps, but i think bearing in mind it has had major surgery its on its way to a full recovery.

It should be leaving mid next week and then it will need some rehabilitation and TLC at home !!

All the structural work is complete, just painting the bonnet and new bumper now. Quite a lot of the front crash panels etc had been damaged. Trust me to pick the biggest bloody animal on the road !!

The bumper only had a couple of the mounts broke, other than that it was OK to look at. Does anyone want the bumper to mess around with before it is binned ? Need to let me know quickly though.

Well, as most of you are aware its all been put back topgether now and a good job was done by Harlow Coach Works.

Last week i reapplied the front end graphics with one new extra decal on the front off-side wing. Hopefully this is the only decal i'll ever have to add here !!
