Angry Absolutely fuming!!!

Ears Motorsport received my 3rd set of Alcons today and dummy fitted them on a car in the workshop to be sure theyre 100% perfect for when i get them.
Basically they dont fit, they needed 2.9mm removed from the radial mount to bring the calipers closer to the hub and then they want me to run 7mm spacers in order make them fit.

Funking 7mm spacers!!!!

That would increase my front track by 14mm!! and then id have to do the reas so that the car was square.

Ive told them to poke the brakes and that i want my money back!! Its been 9 weeks now and after 3 sets of brakes which cost me £1800, im not prepared to settle for anything less.

Ive decided to ditch the 17s and get another set of 18s to run on track. This was not my original plan but it seems top be the way forward.

Looks like i'll have to settle for 356mm AP 6 pots. At least i know that when i order them they will be in stock and available for next day delivery!!

Im so funked off its untrue. Ive basically lost 2 months of insurance due to this too.

Alcon make the works brakes for the WRC impreza and supply McLaren F1...

How comes they cant sort out a w@nky funking road going impreza after 3 attempts!!!

Frayz,

Can fully understand how pi$$ed off you are, but are you compromising yourself getting the AP's?

I know they are very good brakes but if you really want the Alcons and still want to run 17"s then is it worth one more try?

Do they actually do a kit for your car or is it that Alcon cannot supply anything to fit!

For the money your spending you don't want to be regretting it mate.

Just my 2p's worth

Yep very wise words there David

I Tottally agree with everything you say

Frayz .. Just stick with it mate ,All will come good in the end

Dont go getting AP's Mate , Everyman & his dog has those & i really think that you will be regretting your decision in a few months time

Can understand how pissed of you are mate , Perhaps ask for a few quid back , Another set of pads etc .. For the time that they have messed you about

All imho of course

From speaking to Frayz earlier I think this is the final solution for the Alcons. It's fit them with the spacers or nothing.

Gutted for you mate, I really am.

Yeah guys,

Its a case of fit them with spacers or nothing. Im sorry but there is no damn way im running 7mm spacers on my car. It will upset the handling, push my wheels out too far and put even greater load on my wheel bearings.

EARs have got the chance to supply me with APs before the weekend, else i'll get them from somewhere else. Its more become a principal matter now.

Alcons might be great brakes but im certainly not going to be giving them my money to funk me around all this time and still deliver an incorrect product.

Id say ive been MORE than patient!!!

Im sorry but if you dont take care of the customer... someone else will.

In this case... Alcon can suck me off!!

AP's it is!!!

Certainly not worth taking the chance mate, pointless having a car that stops well but handles like c**p.

And for £1800 i'd want to be 110% happy with what they supplied

I agree mate.

My car handles pretty well now... im not gonna sacrifice that because Alcon cant supply what i paid for.

Not like APs are crap... just not what i initially wanted.

gutted for you. as you say ap aren't bad brakes, but they're not what you wanted. are there any other options?

could you get someone to machine you something at work frayz to make them fit properly? or could you use a different disc?

Like i said mate.. its the principal of the matter now.

No matter what they do i feel i no longer want to be a customer of Alcon.

Im disgusted with the length of time this has gone on and the sheer incompetence shown my Alcon in getting it right.

I feel i have been more than patient. Im not going to spend all that money to machine something myself either.

I make you right!

You shouldn't spend all that money and then have to bodge it to make it fit, that's outrageous from a company such as Alcon, I really would have expected better.

i understand. 'tis rediculous.

and 7mm spacers. you'll be going through wheels bearings like no bodies business.

write a nice letter to the md of Alcon. might not solve anything but could make you feel a bit better

aren't porsche brakes made by AP or brembo? so might as well go for the ap's staright off as they're a bit cheaper.
