Hi all,
kelly300 and i went. 3 hrs to get there loads of rain on the roads.
must say there was some lovely looking cars there and some quick ones too.
but not a lot of trade stands about 5/6 in all and thats about it. couln't buy any subaru merchandise. Can not blame anyone for the weather but for something that was meant to be the " BIGGEST EVER SUBARU EVENT!! "
it was very disappointing. maybe due to the rain we're not sure?. been to many ford shows back in the days of my RS series 1 turbo.. and they had much more there.. anyway for £80 fuel and £30 to get in really not worth the 450miles round trip

I don't think i'll ever go back to Elvington either, unless for good reason.

You don't really get a good view of anything. Great that you see (if you can get next to the barriers) cars launching, but that's about it. At least at the pod, you can stand on the hill and view the full 1/4mile!.

Handling? Same thing. "Oh look, there's a car in the distance...". The only interesting bit from a viewers point is the start and the end!

Trade stands were few as were the fast food outlets. The queues to get something to eat said it all.

For me yesterday, i paid £15 a pop to speak to guys i speak to on a regular (and irregular!) basis... not to mention the travelling down, but that was my choice.

Watching the car park empty at around dinnertime, said it all imo.

I was looking forward to hear from the lucky bods that went. But it sounds like it was a bit of a wash-out.

Would have loved to have seen RC's classic on the go.

Airfields are never great for spectators as they are not built for it

Ideal for shoutouts

Also a lot cheaper than a traditional circuit

Scoobynet have put a lot of work into turning this into an "event" weather has not helped

Frayz Ford events are always going to be bigger purely because there are more of them

JAE is hardly a limpwristed event IMHO [even if I did stay in a hotel last year ]

I don't doubt Scoobynet put a lot of effort into it Phil, but the weather would have put off enthusiasts coming, yet there was a fantastic attendance imo if the car park was anything to go by.

It's the traders that have let the event down, be it merchandise or food etc.

Possibly, but to me, and i could be wrong, it was more "weathers going to be poor, can't be bothered going to Elvington". And that's the key word, "bothered".

If that is not the case, then more work needs to be done to entice companies to attend, but bear in mind, this isn't the first scooby event of it's type. Scooby events have been going on for a number of years now.

I went, waited in the rain for an hour to get a burger, walked around and left.

It was pretty poor weather last year also, but they had shelters to stand under, no such thing this year.

Wont be going back next year

Doesn't sound like a particularly good day for spectators

Cold, damp weather must have great for the competitors cars though!
