Default Oil Temperature

Following on from a conversation between John1uk and I tonight...

What is your normal oil temperature?

On a typical run mine is about 88 -92 degrees. On a blast it can get to about 100 degrees.

John's is about 20 degrees higher and after tonights run was up to 120.

is mine cool or his hot or both about normal?

What gauges are you measuring this with guys.

Optimum working oil temp should be anything between 80 and 100 deg on the road.

I'll see 110 on track and thats currently without a cooler. I have a cooler on the way to combat this problem on track.

Id be inclined to say Johns may not be reading correctly.

I highly doubt he is pushing 120 deg on the road.. it would of shat itself by now.

Yours seems about on the money mate.

I bet if you swapped gauges you would be seeing 120's and John would see 90's

When I had my classic it used to run at around 95-100, up to 110 when driven enthusiastically.

Getting my gauges fitted soon so will be interested to see what they are reading for the STi

My temp sits at 100 C and about 110 C when having fun (Autogauge) The 2.5 definately runs hotter than the old 2.0, must fit the Mocal oil cooler sometime
