Default What to do?

Guys n gals,

I've got the scoob up for sale as i'm after buying my mates one, still a classic but has a fair few more goodies than mine ie full coil overs, few engine mods along with the usual exhaust etc = pushing out about 280 - 290 bhp compared to my 250. Plus i can secure this car for half of what i could sell mine for.

Now here's the "what shall i do" I've been offered a series 1 and a series 2 rs turbo in exchange for my impreza. I've had a series 2 before and always regretted selling it. Another thing, a series 1 rs turbo was the car from my childhood that i always wanted.

I'm in a quandry (sp) as to what to do

If it was my desission, I would go for the Series 1 all the way!!!! BUT I would have to get someone in the know to give the FULL once over, as I found with my Series 2, once they start going wrong its a never ending battle!!!

SERIES 1

Take it to Ahmed Bajoooooooooo in Romford......he's well known in the ford tuning circles and used to race-tune renault 5's back in the day if i'm not much mistaken....

I'd go for a 2 but it comes down to personal pref....

Well i'd be getting both and selling the series 2 on, after taking a few goodies off it. Like the Saph cos leather interior, cossie brakes and the engine that has the spec that i'd want and should be good for around 200bhp before i change the bottom end for a 2.0 (bored to 2.1) zetec.

As for them going wrong, i've still got a shed of engine spares from when i had one before for when anything happens although it wouldn't stay as it is for long. The plan would be to swap out the mfi for efi and then run anti lag and get him to tune it. Plus with a few other goodies, it should see around 250bhp.

Tripple 'o' g - I've heard of Ahmed Bajoo. top tuner from what i can remember.

You'd want to go with anti-lag?

After the set up in my scoob I wouldn't bother to be fair.....also the one other thing not to forget (i'm sure you haven't) is the torque steer in a rs turbs.....

The guy who's doing my work at them moment had the fastest mrk 2 RS in the country back in the day.......he went balistic on it.........then the car snapped in half due to the torque steer.....

He then placed it in another shell.........sold it..........warned the new buyer that if he was going to put his foot down it better be on a motorway and in the middle lane.

The bloke didn't listen.......dropped it in 3rd on the M25.....ended up in the side wall in the blink of an eye.....

some people eh?

He's a real good guy as it goes.....

My mate had a series two back then and that was the car that got me into performance motors....
I'll never forget, it had the stage 2 mod where he had a little red button......once pressed, it's opened up the vales (or something) that transformed the car into a cossie turboed monster....

lol, that torque steer can be a bit of a bugger can't it. the lsd box should help but over 200bhp they can become more of a hindrance i've heard. i guess tougher roll bars and decent suspension setup will help a bit.

would love the anti lag. although i used to get enough flames out of my series 2 as it was. i guess there's the view that it's a series 1 and shouldn't be played with too much.

I'll have to get hold of him and see what he did.....as for the car-snapping-torque RS......I think it had a ******* flex capacitor......

You'll probably get that view as there arn't that many series 1's out there anymore that haven't been spanked into oblivion.....but hey.......you gotta do what you gotta do

I'm creaming myself about getting my new toy now.....it's soooo close but don't want it rushed because I want it right

lol, sounds like part of it wanted to go into warp speed and the the other bit didn't.

yeah, wouldn't be doing anything with the outside as that's as good as it can get imo. nothing wrong with the way the s1 looks. wouldn't change the wheels even. but the inside can have a little play with. after seeing fray's dash flocked, it'll be going down that route, the saph cos leather and 3 or 4 spoke cos steering wheel, if i can get one. It's already got a dvd player and screen in it so that can stay in. other than that, a few important guages and that'll be it.

Oh yes, it's got to be done properly. any idea when you're getting it?

Not too sure on the details on the escort to be honest, all i have been told is that it will be able to beat my scoob once done! and it won't need a spark plug to spit flames!

I think there was a car on a Jeromy Clarkson video once that he and mark had played with, ( It had M&A Development on the front screen) it was an escort Cossworth and it was in the race of the Cossies in which it won.

RS Turbo's and Cossies like to spit flames. Had a couple of worrying moments in my old s2 when i didn't think the dragon of a flame out the back was going to go out.

Yeah M&A Developments have built a few rapid cossies. I think they've featured in a few of the TOTB events.

I've got that Clarkson vid. It trounces the rest and then Clarkson spanks it round the track against VBH in a scooby.

I can still run it around on with the street port on the old map however i'm one of those blokes that wants it done in one go......
nevermind.....

Hope you get the car you want fella.....but it sounds like you've made your mind up already

MB, I remember that cossie race....

If you could have it how you want it in one it's got to be better. Can't blame you for wanting it all done in one go. I'm the same.

Has it still got the secret spec cams in it? At the time they were very hush hush iirc. Ground to M&A specific spec.

Not the smartest of things to say really.......

"I've had it for two weeks and 355bhp is too slow........"
basically says, "I've had it for two weeks and ragged the **** out of it...."

Someones bought it anyway.....just hope it lasts

Yeah please do, I need an excuse you get away from the mrs at weekends anyway.....lol

He wants to get a 400bhp classic by the looks of things.

I mean i'm not overly bothered.....it's just after the time and money I spent on it........kind of a shame to see it thrashed like that.......anyway I got more than I wanted for it so full ahead.....

Don't.....we've just moved out together and it seems all I do is work and spend time down sainsburys homebase and the like....

Can't see it being that much faster. Agreed, after all the effort you put into the car, it's a waste to hear of someone treating the way you wouldn't.

i've been with my missus for 8 years, lived with her for the last 5, married for nearly 3 of those. It never changes mate. best get used to it

Funny you mention about the DIY......I put up some flashy wall unit for the livingroom the other day and she came in, shook it and was quite surprised it didn't fall apart.....

You could fit a hyper drive button

Oh yes the DIY has to pass the missus test. As you say, normally a shake and a look up and down for 5 mins before you get "mmm" and see her walk off.
