The company was formed in Glasgow, in 1918 by John Scobie & John Junor. Initially, the sole trade was in Herbs and Spices.
During the 1950's, the business was bought by John Bryce and John Wicklow. They were followed in the 60's by second generations of both families.
The 70's saw the purchase of 2 further seasoning manufacturers, and a first venture into Elastic meat Netting.
In the 80's the brand name SCOTnet was launched, winning the Queens Award for Export along the way. We export under this brand to over 50 countries, and are now one of the worlds largest producers.
The 1990'ssaw the retirement of Iain Bryce, and the joining of a 3rd generation of Wicklows. It also sees S&J as one of the UK largest privately owned companies in its sector, with branches in Scotland, Ireland and the USA, specialising in supplying the food industry with the finest ingredients, the most innovative packaging and the most dependable machinery available throughout the world
