Default Eventfull day at the track !

Thought i would post the results of my first ever track day.

It started reasonably well, bit of a culture shock though. I am not one to generally be frightened by driving bearing in mind what i drive at work and do, however my first outing on the track scared the pants off of me !!

I then braved another go with a mate in the car and was getting a little more confident this time. Better car control and got used to some of the other nutters on the circuit.

Got back to the pits then my mate wanted to have a go in mine. Hes a work colleague, so trust him implicity. So yeah, what the hell. He didn't rag it, well controlled, just a little bad luck on his part. Here's what happened.

Subaru Impreza CarPC

Listen carefully at 33 seconds in, what do you reckon ?

I almost pooped myself !! Not the kinda scare you want with a car which has only got 15,000 miles on it.

Thanks to Tiny and Baz for lending me the camera mount, without this i would not have captured other parts of the day.

Also thanks to Baz for turning up, it was nice to see another ESC member for support, even if he did take some pictures of me being towed of the track after the red flags went up. Should have seen my wifes face when i was being towed in, it was a picture !!

Nothing serious by the sounds of it, you must have absolutely crapped yourself though

Steve,

I take it you've sorted out your 'issue'?

Glad you enjoyed the day, no longer a Track Day Virgin

So, was it just a hose? or a bit more serious?

Hope it's ok.

i used 4 litres of oil at silverstone last week

So don't worry about a boost hose working loose... as long as you tightened it back up and carried on!

I did crap myself, not as much as my mate though !! He still feels bad.

It was just the hose coming straight off the turbo into the Intercooler it think, big black wide bore hose with a jubilee clip on it.

My mate said his foot slipped off the gas, so perhaps too much of a pressure build up. Anyway seems fine now.

You have to experience these things in life, however, track days, perhaps not again. Certainly not in my road car anyway. Just too damn scary !!

Cops on TV, hmmmmm. In the summer we did 8 weeks filming with ITV Crime Fighters. Strange seeing yourself on TV. They showed the time we got a transit parked ON TOP of one our EVOs though !!

No it was today mate, there was 2 other scoobies there though, a white classic (MAD 927) i think and a red one.

Didn't realise there was a novice section, jumped straight into the deep end as usual then !!

Yep, the one I went too on Friday was very well organised. No idiots on track and good advice beforehand.
I assumed yours was a novice days because the cones were out for turn in points etc..

It was an open pit lane today, so i think i caters for all levels. I did feel a little out of my depth though to start with. My mate had his RS200 with 7 of his RS200 mates, awsome sight !

I think they have the cones there most of the time judging by the initial briefing.

Good day though.

Mate they are great !! Better than i could have produced anyway. Mind you my Digicam packed up half way through the day so may be looking to buy a new one Any suggestions ??

It was a day of things going wrong i think, someone broke both the motorways i wanted to go on on the way home also !!

Baz, any chance of you sending me the high res ones of my car and my mates RS200. I've sent you an email with the ones i would like. I think i will get one of these blow up.

Great job again mate, they're the only pictures i got of the day really. Thanks ever so much for coming along .
