Oh No!! My worst fear....accidently filling up with diesel, especially since that is all I've ever used for the last 3 yrs from owning a 4x4! When ever I fill up, I must spend 5 mins checking, double checking and triple checking I have the 99ron petrol hose!!
But always wondered about anything other than petrol making its way into the tank!!!

Flipping heck,
FWIW, last year my mate bought his Missus a brand new Range Rover diesel. A couple of days after picking it up she filled it up with petrol. Luckily she realised her mistake, didn't start it up and the said car got picked up, taken to RR where it was dealt with. My mate ended up with a bill for about £2000. When he asked how much it would have cost him if she'd driven it, he was told........
£8000
Not long after she did that, he did exactly the same thing and he got landed with another 2 grand bill. His excuse was he was used to filling up his Bentley. Tough life ain't it !!!!

reminds me of when we bought our Citroen berlingo DIESEL van....
Imagine this:
1 day old van been delivered to our workshop late one afternoon, send our driver down to the garage to fill it with DIESEL, he returns no problem and the van remains locked up overnight for a delivery first thing the next morning, upon arriving next day the van WONT start.... call citroen who come out and recover the van, 2 days later we get a phone call saying the reason your van wont start is because DIESEL has been put in the fuel tank..... erm did we buy a petrol van then???? Turns out we had the ONLY petrol berlingo in the country.... citroen then had to quickly realise there error and replaced the van....
