Another advise thread!
I am looking at purchasing a STI rear spoiler (as at the mo me car is wearing the latest in the WRX line!)
But the ones i have seen come primed.
Can anybody recomend somewhere that would be able to give it a splash of paint?
Thanks!

Where abouts are you? I know a good place where I took my spare wheel cover for 4x4, and they done a fab job! Think it was £50 and it was metalic too?
PM me if you want details....

MrBush - What spoiler are you looking at, make / price / web site etc ? I too am looking at replacing my standard MY05 WRX one for an STi style but want to keep the same mounting holes etc. I'd rather go for one which is recommended and which people have already bought as opposed to taking a chance on an aftermarket one. From what i have read their is varying degrees of qualitiy.
I sent an email to ABW last Thursday for a quote, but no reply yet
Cheers.
PS - Don't suppose your car is black is it ? Could get a 'Group Buy' on the colour coding

I have been looking on Ebay, there are quite a few on there but like you i am trying to find one that A) hopefully uses the original spoiler fixing holes and B) is good enough quality as i don't want it fitted for a month and then it starts peeling!!
And sorry no its WR Blue. liked the idea of a group buy too!
Maybe a 'group buy' on the Spoiler?

I May be wrong , But i think an STI Spoiler will still use the same holes in the boot , Regardless wether or not it's a WRX
But i could be VERY Wrong !! LOL
Oh & To add , If you are considering using ABW , You will not be dissapointed , Most of my car was re painted by Daren not so long ago
Tiny ...

Seeing your and Strikers cars pushed me that way! (quality of work!)
I have seen a few on Ebay giving prices of between £89-160 for the spoiler (add another £80 painted) but aint to sure on the quality of it! I.E the spoiler itself or the paint work!!

I personally would stear clear from eBay, unless the seller is recommended for this type of thing. Just my personal view ! If it cracks etc 6months done the line, you're in the poo !!
I have been looking at these ones and a couple from the Scoobnet forum have purchased from here and say they are good.
New Age Impreza (2000-2002):New Age Impreza (2000-2002): A Pillar Twin 52mm Pod New Age [APILLARPOD] - £69.99
Although ABW are good i am sure, £250 seems a little expensive for a spoiler ? Again, no experience, just seems a lot when you consider the spoiler itself could be £250.
I am keen to find one also however, so we'll keep at it MrBUSH !
Steve
PS - Don't know whats happened to the link titling as it does go to spoilers no pillar pods !!

Try Scoobyclinic.com - they are advertising STI spoilers sprayed AND FITTED for under £300..........
Don't think anyone has advertised this any lower as far as I've seen, and I've been looking for over a year for the best deal....

mmmm, so many choices now
Heres my views on the ones listed so far and the one i prefer -
Scooby Clinic - £275 inc painting (brake light a top not bottom)
Scooby World - £350 inc painting (solid, not in 2 parts)
DRMotorsport - £300 inc Painting - STi replica (in 2 parts)
Subaru.org.uk (ebay) - £250 inc painting (don't like lower brake light)
So am i reight that there is 3 of us wanting spoilers of this type - Me, MrBUSH & Looie ? Any more.
If we all agree why don't we see if we can get a GB from one of them.

MrBUSH - Did you settle on a spoiler, if not you may want to see this thread. Very tempting indeed

Anybody else bought a STi spoiler from DR Motorsport and can comment on their quality of product and paint spray ?
Steve

I'm going away until the end of the week, so if you do enquire can you see what price they will do 2 for inc P&P to Essex (i guess thats where you are also), We may save a couple of quid by getting 2 at once and shipped together.
If it makes a difference my paint is Obsidian Black, i will supply exact code later if i go this way.
I like the fact that it uses the same WRX holes without adding more, thats one of my main deciding factors.
Be nice to get it done for Christmas !!
Cheers mate.

One thing to lok out for, or maybe two
The fibreglass ones need a lot of prep, and this is where the money comes from for the spraying.
£80 will get it painted sure, but you are looking at hours of prep time to get rid of the differing levels on the surface. Trust me i got one when i got my wrx and TBH it looks ****e.
The EBAY items normally come with a red brake light and Subaru items are white, a very easy tell tale that its not OE stuff. I found this out ages after i bought mine and it annoys me everytime i look at it.
If you get a OE STI item it will use the existing holes in the boot, so a case of bolt on bolt off, as there are plastic guides on both item that are a universal fit if using Proper Subaru items.
Would def recommend searching breakers and getting one resprayed like that, maybe cost more but well worth it.
When you notice is most is when you are parked in a line of Scoobs, your replica if you get one will stand out like a sore thumb.
Hope this helps
