Default Users of the Dartford tolls .....

Not sure if this may be of interest to some?

For those of you who are Dartford tunnel fanatics, I have read in the Evening Echo today that fees for the Dartford crossing are due to change in December:

Daytime charges will rise from £1 to £1.50 with a possibility that night-time fees could drop between 10pm and 6am, and those who have Dart Tag Cards will pay £1 a crossing instead of 93p.

How convenient… introduced just in time to catch all the Christmas shoppers going to Bluewater (or Lakeside if travelling in the other direction!)

Just another F***ing tax!

Considering when the tunnels were first dug, the tolls were meant to be removed once it had paid for itself. (Like that was ever going to happen )

Rant over.

I suppose £3 for a trip over the bridge and a blast back through the tunnel is comparable with the price of a descent fairground ride.

On the radio recently a spokesman said that the tunnel and bridge are now bought and paid for. However, the tolls would remain as a 'congestion charge'

I agree with what Nate said, I'm glad I hardly use the crossing.

Mind you look on the positive side, at least it may prevent some of the Kent lot coming over to our green and pleasent land

Perhaps we can sort something that'll stop the Bucks lot too

when it comes to tunnels
you have to consider the taxi entrance
into heathrow airport
now open to all
this tunnel is about 10 feet wide and 8 feet high
runs under the runway, approx 100m
and is totally free
and its in the msoc area

congestion charge implies that there is a choice.... hmmmm blackwall is hardly the way that they are wanting cars to go. just another money grabbing scheme off motorists that have no choice and on the small businesses and freight operators.

Im sure i read once.. that when the DARTFORD TUNNEL was paid for by the PUBLIC!! that it would become a FREE tunnel..

then they made the BRIDGE & they said the same, once it was paid for it would be FREE,

Now they are uping the price. its a shame we cant do what the bikers did, when they wanted to charge them???

Get 500+ bikers all at once to go through the tolls causing 10+ miles of tail backs as every biker had to get of bike.. undo leathers, pay. do up leathers, get on bike & go.
