Question with winter now on it's way...

As most of you can guess i have NOT gone to Butlins

As i am sat here waitin' for the baby to arrive i have been listing, ordering and reviewing all the parts needed and wanted for MY95 WRX

Thing is... i cannot locate a lightweight ally radiator and intercooler? ideally looking for a group A rally spec one

Any idea's

Why would you want a lightweight ally rad, the standard rad will be fine unless your going for silly power

ps....hows the popcorn

im full up - feel a bit sick now

the standard rad split on the side plastic arms a little while ago - but has been plastic welded - bloody good job done too - but yes - i am trying to kill all weight and at the moment the car runs 323BHP - BUT - this is a rolling road read out from late 2003 and has done 17k more KM's since then - not going for silly speed - just 340 break at the wheel and thats it really - but need a new one anyway

LeWi-77 workin' off the popcorn!!

if you want an alloy intercooler, go for a STI one, as it's bigger than the WRX one and is alloy anyway, unless you want to go down the front mount road.

Demon tweak sell light weight alternators if you're really serious about losing weight

just a tip while I remember, my car has a full decat, induction kit, walbro 255l fuel pump and water injection, and it's at 293BHP, and was told by a couple of specialists that if I want around 330BHP, to go for the 550 injectors, hope this helps you to hit your target

Cheers fella - if i can get my car looking like yours on the out side i will be happy - love the decals - solberg pig's all the way - and i forgot about the alternator - what a spoon!

as for the STi intercooler - do you know the best place to get one? and also how many mods will have to be made to make it fit if i get a updated version rather than an older one as i hear they are lighter!!??

Sorry mate, I didn't realise that you didn't have a VTA on there, so it should work now.

Lewi, thanks for you comments, I saw the graphics on Ebay, and I had to have them, something a little different!!

I'm not too sure about whats involved in fitting an uprated I/C, though I've heard that you've got to modify the original brackets.
There are usually quite a few for sale on Ebay, I was going to get a STI I/C for my scoob, but got water injection instead as it was cheaper, and apparently it helps keep the dreaded detonation curse on imports at bay.

I have a HKS dumpvalve, was on the car when I bought it, but it's easy to fit, you just swap the 2 around, mind you, the pipe it sits in may be a different size than the forge

right... after the footy im gonna go and see if i can get it on! the dumpvalve that is!
Are you sayin' water injection stops the BANG rather than uprating the I/C?

It won't stop it, just helps prevent it.

Mind you, it would be interesting to find out the difference in power (if any) with it switched on and off, might have to put the performance meter on and check it out

a brand new lightweight ally rad is £108 + del - needed as old one fixed but dont trust - how much would water injectors cost?
or would you suggest getting rid and getting a STi / rally front mount? thinkin of weight and all that?

it's not an aquamist system, bought it on ebay, the guy who makes them is from upminster, it comes with a digital display/controller that shows boost, inlet charge temperature and air/fuel level, I fitted it myself, quite straight forward, but it took all day!!

Leaves corner free for Lewi

FAO - Cornelius:

Hi Fella, Just swapped my forge DV for the new HKS - BUT i was guarenteed that it was LOUD but i can't hear a thing!! there is a bolt on the back of it which i have loosened and tightened and still no sound?!
Any idea's?
Also if it isn't releasing the excess air from the turbo is this going to damage my engine?
Hope you can help

I've got a HKS sequential dumpvalve, as it's pretty loud, though not as loud as the newer super sequential valve.

try spraying the insides with WD40, as the piston may be sticking

John, where are you having the back box fitted?

only ask because if they can drill a 14mm hole on top of the tail pipe, it would save a lot of grief!!

ps, I'm now making 3 flamers for John1uk, Cookie and Lewi, I've got some spare time at last.....YIPPEEEE!!
