Hi franny66,

Are you sur you want over 300 as it is very expensive. When you go over 300 you are going to need bigger injectors, turbo, exhaust, panel filter, (optional) STi intercooler, fuel pump and remap. The block, gearbox will around last up to around 330hp. The GB270 is a 2.5 as well so it is weaker and will probably need a forged rebuild after 300 which is ££££'s. Unless you really want 300+ and have the cash ready then by all means fulfil your desire. However, then again if your ready to spend around £3000 (not including labour, gearbox, engine rebuild otherwise your looking at £8500+) why not buy a forged up STi : )

Hope this helps

Regards,

Biggest limiting factor is your turbo, td04. Bottom end limit is said to be 350bhp on 2.5

Not sure what injectors are in hawk wrx but id say all you need is vf35/43 turbo, sti intercooler, fuel pump and remap - which you should be able to do for 1k

However, that is using second hand parts without the cost of labour as well. There is a lint on the engine for a reason even going near 350hp you will potentially blow your engine in the end (I found out the hard way). If your not ready to spend £1000's then don't, if you want a fast reliable car that will start without fault, then stick with what you have now and maybe do subtle upgrades. As the torque on the 2.5 is a lot higher so when you are to 350hp your gearbox will no doubt break in the end. The WRX is very restrictive when it comes to upgrading, that's why if you are looking for a lot of power go for the STi, as where the WRX will handle around 270 comfortably, the STi will handle 350+ with just bolt ons.

Quite a few people will say it is the way you drive it, but what would rather have 350hp that you couldn't use because of the engine and gearbox that you have to worry about. Or 270hp that you can use to its peak because you know that the gearbox and engine are within limits.

The GB270 has around 266hp I think, so if your looking for that little bit more put an exhaust, panel filter, fuel pump and remap and you should gain 20hp. If you want to be on the safe side a VF34/35, etc will do well. But try and stay under the 300 bracket
