It is a 2012 TDCI Duratorq 2.2 the newest model. I beleive you can get devices that map them, one is called an Evolution Genius system.

Apparently (don't know from personal experience) but the best thing you can do the Duratorq is to gut the DPF and re-map.

I know someone who did this to their focus and saw huge power gains and better fuel economy.

Ok, these filters sound like nothing but trouble from what i have read. All i am after is better fuel economy and a smoother map with no flat spots. I wonder if the dpf is hard to remove?

Yeah, they're supposed to be self cleaning, but in the end only cost £££ as they eventually die.

The focus I mentioned was 4 years old, with 80k on the clock and had to have a new one. £800 for the part alone. Needless to say, a £350 removal and remap was the best thing he ever did to that car!

That sounds quite cheap. Some units cost over a grand. I was hoping that there would be a mapper out there that would do it for me. The truck is still under warranty at present so not sure i can remove the dpf. A map should be undetectable as there is no software put on the ecu(as far as i know)' just a change of parameters. There are lots of companys on the net advertising this kind of service, but i'd rather use someone with good rep.

Thats ok. He said the vw 2011year onwards the cars cant be mapped through the plug port and the only way to map it is buy takeing the ecu out of the car. So im not sure about fords though as he said the car compans are trying to make it hard to remap cars but always away around it

Bob Rawle has always done the remapping on my imprezas. He would be my prefered mapper, though i have no idea if this kind of mapping is his forte i.e tuning diesel trucks . The ford ranger is mapped via the OBD port. That is all i know, and as mentioned, the ecu may have to be removed to do the job, so not what you might call an on the road mapping .....

There's always got to be a spoil sport , yep that is the case, but surely you would have to go looking for any parameter changes to the stock ecu setup. Obviously a missing dpf in the exhaust system would be a warranty breaker anyway.

When the focus had its DPF removed, it was actually taken off, cut open from the top, "gutted" and welded back together, so it looks like it's still got one on it!!
