Hi. I have a pretty standard 2001 wrx wagon. it has a turbo back 3" stainless system, no cat and a pipercross panel filter.
It showing 14 psi (+/- 0.1psi) most of the time and pulls ok, sometimes it pulls harder and seems to boost to 16psi. this is when its properly warm though. can defo feel the difference in the extra 2psi.

its the standard Denso solenoid under the panel that controls the boost. No remap or boost adjuster. Just standard.

Is this normal or is somehting going wrong? Whats std boost? wat can they handle safely?

I intend to stick a stainless decat up pipe on it next week, or even headers if i can find un-equal length ones that dont loose the burble and dont cost the earth.

Once this is done ill stick an EBC on it and run whatever people seem to be able to run safely on std engine. Dont want to pump money into a big mod / injectors / remap setup just yet.

Any advice appreciated. anyone with any of the above bits for sale - please PM me as id rather buy 2nd hand if i can, only had the cart a week so not much dough left

Let me guess. Its not remapped for the decat
This is your problem
If you dont get it mapped asap you will be buying a new engine

agreed, you need a remap for a decat downpipe as it will overboost
