Default swap ecu or keep it?

guys, i hope this isn't a silly question, but i'm confused as to what to do!

my local subaru dealers told me my ecu was knackered as was not communicating with the obd,

so i have bought a secondhand one, they said they could re-code the keys for me (don't know at what cost) , but having bought, and plugged in my elm 327 module, I am getting info from the ecu. (including fault codes i have now cleared)

i don't know if either the one fitted or the secondhand ecu have ecutek licence, just wondered if anyone has had similar experience, and know whether a mapper is still likely to be able to remap the original or whether i will need to change it?
it is due in at dealer tomorrow to swap them over.

surely the dealers software should be better than what i can buy?

(car is a 51 reg wrx sportwagon imported from belgium (euro import))

main reason for remap is full turbo back exhaust about to be fitted!
