Default boost controller

hi need some help people ive bought a 52 plate wrx with 37000 mile on the clock, its got a cat back blitz nur spec exhust and thats all the last owner did aprat from a blitz dual boost controller.
Now the problem i have the solenoid for the boost controller has gone bad, so now the boost controller isnt working so car is only boosting to 7psi on my boost gauge.
The thing i want to know is would you guys splash out a new solenoid at £250 or remove it and put it back to stock with the resrictor pill fitted.
I plan on doing a few mods in the future and getting it mapped but not yet what do you guys think is the best route to go.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section still learning the site.

Sure the solenoid has failed? Check the controller has not been turned off by mistake.

i never touch it its got the same setting on the face of the boost controller it has always had.
Gain is set to 10 and boost is set to 40, one day it was boosting to 11psi and now no matter what setting you put the boost controller on it only hits 7psi.

If your modding your car you want to start with a good solid base to know where your at
And starting With what could be someone else's dodgy set up is never a good thing

Standard is 1.2
You sometimes can go down on size to help achieve boost targets but I'd only start going down that route if you find you need to

If you're planning on getting it mapped then I'd start from stock
And work from there

Could the 1mm pill cause over boost I've heard the 1mm will help hit target boost better on a remap.

Going smaller can cause a little overboost
if everything is in good order you should be able to hit your target boost with 1.2 when mapping , having to contol boost by pill size is not the proper solution and indicates a possible problem elsewhere
