Default Ecu sti impreza 1996

Hi,
My name is Mathieu and I comme from France.
I bought an impreza from england. It's a real pleasure to drive it. On closer inspection, I saw this Ecu
I wonder what changes with this ecu?
The car still has the catalyst, I don't known if It's importante?
Thanks a lot

That looks like the stock ECU, it isn't aftermarket. It might have been remapped but you won't know unless you plug it in.

It is a 3 plug ecu which is version 3 or 4. These generally aren't a generally a mappable ecu. The outer case could have been changed cause it looks suspiciously like a prodrive sti case off a version 5/6 which was used for the ppp.
Take the case off and post a picture of the inside. You could be lucky and someone has upgraded to an ESL etc.
Do you know is the car a UK car or a JDM car.
