Just to clarify something... I'm looking into the future for potentially extracting a little more power once I've sorted the suspension and brakes on my WRX.

My car has the ppp pack fitted but from reading that was some sort of daughterboard on the ecu?

Would i be right in thinking the only way to further remap would be by taking the board off and having an ecutek license added?

Is there anyone who can tap into the ppp board?

Does the ppp board have any scope for 'self learning' i.e if i fitted a decat down/up pipe?

Is it going to cost more to remap as someone will need to unsolder the ppp board or is this a straight forward job?

It seems a shame to tamper with a factory product so would rather leave it in place but it seems there is not much love for it!

01 has daughterboard. 02 onwards doesn't IIRC.

 

Mine was a 2003 registered, December 2002 built car but as far I was aware all bugeyes came with the daughterboard?

But I may be wrong?!

Ah an interesting read, so it wasn't a bugeye specific thing it was down to year...

So i guess I don't 'save' anything money wise its just that someone won't have to dismantle the ecu which I guess helps.

Definitely year related and not many of then used, they are GEMS piggy back boards with a cut defender built in, I find them mostly in Europe, once they got ecutek software they stopped with it, not a good solution at all
