Default Reflash method

When flashing in a change what's the preferred way. Ie with evos I tend to keep them running and when I press the write button it switches the car off and writes.

Is their a preferred way? Any quirks? Tips? Etc? Stock ecu btw

this is on a newage car I take it? if so you need the engine off, green connectors joined to each other and the flash block in place. Turn the ignition on and hit the write button then wait for it to finish. Once it's done check and double check that all the writes are OK (there's a summary at the end) then you can switch off the car. If there are any write errors at all do not switch off the engine, just write the file again and see if it goes OK the second time. If you switch the ignition off before the write has finished you'll be left with a bricked ECU.

Thanks for that exactly the info I was looking for. Would a test write be better to do first?

i would do a test write the first time round just to get you familiar with the process and after that good to go. Just keep an eye out for errors when actually flashing and remember do not turn off the ignition - just run the flash again and if necessary flash your stock rom back on again but don't turn off the ignition until you have a 100% complete flash loaded on to the car.

Thanks very much just need to see what the summary page looks like next. Also using ecuflash say as an example 2003 which method are you using to read USDM? The one I had read using this method ? Correct?

2001-2005 NON-usdm impreza wrx/sti you'll be wanting then assuming it's a UK car. If not read the list of available cars and choose the one that fits.

Thanks. Yeah could only get it to read the 2003 uk car by using the USDM method... Strange
