Default Newage STi with VF22 and ID1000

As the title suggests I'm looking at fitting a VF22 to my 04 STi motor but unsure whether ID1000 injectors would be overkill. I'd rather go for the ID1000 if possible to future proof myself for later on but not sure if the car idle correctly? Obviously after a remap.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks Ian.

Thanks for reply, VF22 as a replacement for the VF35, don't want to go too much higher buy expecting a nice boost from it.
I only ask about the ID1000's as there is a good used set available cheaper than I can get lateral to modify my current injectors for.

I have the VF22 as standard on my old classic and have been told it's only good for 1.4bar max

Your 550 injectors you have in mow will handle 370 - 380 all day long

And if it's just to replace the 35 your probably gonna max that turbo out about 340 max maybe even less

So your injectors won't be anywhere near there max duty

VF22 is supposedly good for a maximum 400bhp and around 25psi of boost so I'm a little unsure now.

My 35 is getting a bit on the tired side, Plus I'm not sure what power I'm making as the vehicle was road mapped so I'm estimating around 320 at present. I'd be happy with anything over 350.
I could get another 35 but the 22 I picked up is mint, almost new and cost half what a good 35 makes.

I would love a 36 but they are way above my budget. The 22 I picked up was only £150 and like new.

Just a snippet copied from another site.

IHI VF22

(490cfm at 18.0psi, 250-325whp, Bolt-On)
This is the standard equipment turbocharger used on the JDM V3 Subaru Impreza WRX and optional on the JDM Subaru Impreza WRX STi 22b. Of all the IHI models, the VF22 has the largest potential for peak horsepower, and is capable of supporting the highest boost levels. It is capable of running up to 25 psi. The VF22 is a roller bearing turbo that utilizes the P20 exhaust housing.
Expect to achieve full boost with the proper mods and a quality tune between 3200-3700rpms. 2002-2005 WRX owners will need fuel upgrades for this turbocharger and proper engine management is highly recommended for all vehicles.

Looks good to me ian
I'm not getting full boost 1.1bar until around 4k so I can vastly improve things when I get time to look at the map. Cheers

I'm hoping the AVCS will aid with the spool but to be honest I don't mind as I'm not running it in a Subaru and my gears are quite short so revs will be pretty high.

I'm not on AVCS But my RA has very short gears so it still feels like a quick spool but I might just stick to 1.4bar max on Tidgy's advice+Andy Forest's site also confirms a max of 1.4 on the VF

You will just be making things hot trying to make it do things it simply can't and pushed past it's limits won't last long at all. 550 injectors will outrun that turbo as you won't be getting 400 on one of those sorry dude. I would have thought everybody would be running them, so little money for 400 ponies and more power than a vf34/35

Speak to whoever you plan on mapping it and see what they say.

My mapper said its a great turbo and should easy make 360 so really unsure. I'm unsure how it will perform worse than a VF35 with its large exhaust housing.
Oh well time will tell, if it performs **** I'll just whack the 35 back on and get it remapped again.

I'm running ID1000s with a td0520g at 398bhp. No idle issues at all, turbo choice aside I've been told that there is no downside to the IDs on even a modest powered car, so if they're the right price - in the name of future proofing they're not a bad idea.
