Every impreza model can be mapped. There's different methods for different models.
Speak to a well known tuner and go through your options.

hi guys, bought my first subaru impreza classic sti gc8 1998, about 3months ago now, and was looking to get her remapped, also she has a limiter on her, hopefully that can be taken off, as you can tell im not clued up on these cars lol,

any info and guidence would be much appreciated,

98 car will be a V3/4 and will need ESL or similar to be remapped. Maybe it already has something like this fitted? You'd need to have a look at the ECU to tell. It's below the carpet on the passenger footwell and is easily accessed. Not too sure about the limiter part (speed?) as my car doesn't have it (UK car). I've seen things for sale that mount in or behind the instrument cluster that removes the speed limit though. Google will help you.

Or if you just want limiter removing then you can get a speedo coverter
