Default whats the best subaru turbo to fit (vf range)

was chatting a a bloke other day regarding tuning and the vf turbo was mentioned the roller bearing type.

not after a big tune just a few more horses, im sure it was the p1 turbo? is that the vf23?

what would people recommend?

currently on a td04 uk scoob. want something that will fit like for like and complement a ppp ecu.

The P1 was fitted with a VF28 a common upgrade on the UK cars is a VF35 from a newage sti, also you would need a proper remap not just a ppp ecu

ok taken on board.

vf28 is enough for me tbh. many folk run them? what sort of power gains could i expect? is the vf28 a direct like for like swap with the setup i have now - ie the flanges etc...

My last impreza was a MY00 2000 turbo. I did the usual upgrade of VF28 and then VF35. Yes they,re direct swap Would recommend the latter. Relatively cheap and fast spooling. Steve.

VF 34 is also a good upgrade ....good for 340-350 with very little turbo lag !
