Default UK300 and my WRX

Can someone tell me what the engine, turbo and map set up is on a UK300 Impreza 2005 blob eye model.

I once drove the above when I was looking to buy an Impreza and was impressed with the power. It had a PPP and I think it was about 280bhp.

I now have a 2004 WRX Impreza that is standard and want to tune it to get more power. I don't know how far to go and what to change. I don't know whether to get a basic remap or go bigger and start changing the turbo etc. I want to get the same kind of power as in the UK300 I drove.

I don't want to spend mega bucks as the car now has 100,000 miles on it and there is a bit of a wine in the gearbox. I looked into the idea of tuning it before but I'm still not sure what is the best thing.

UK300 is a standard WRX with PPP fitted which is Prodrive Y pipe on the intercooler, 3rd cat removed, Prodrive backbox and Prodrive remap. It's not 280bhp but circa 265. I've retro fitted all of this to my blob wagon and love it. Cheap to do as well. Exhausts come up on here fairly regularly.

Take a look at my thread here: https://www.scoobynet.com/1004847-fo...x-wagon-3.html

Anyone ever RR'd a standard UK300? My 2003 WRX PPP recorded 187bhp at the wheels. That's far from the claimed 265bhp at fly.

God knows, read a few posts with people claiming PPP claimed figures are exaggerated.

It'd be nice to hear of someone else who dyno'd a standard blob PPP.

The UK300 I drove was at a local dearlership around where I live. I think the sales guy said it is called a UK300 because it is 300bhp. I looked through the paperwork and came across a piece of paper which said that it was 280bhp. I think the paper looked quite official like it was prodrive or Subaru.

Is there anything that might have made this one 280bhp as a standard car. It had an Sti style rear spoiler. I don't know if that means it might have had a slightly different package.

The only mod on my car at the moment is a prodrive backbox which has the oval prodrive exhaust. I don't know what model it is off as yours and others seem to have a circular exhaust.

Is there any cheap way of managing to get to 280-300bhp without breaking the bank. I mean is it a case of changing the turbo and couple of other bits and pieces or is it going to be mega bucks. I don't want to spend money mapping the WRX only to find that it still isn't enough and then wishing I'd spent the money on bigger mods.

Do-Luck panel filter, needs map?
VTA dump valve needs map?
Millers Nanodrive oil needs map?
Removal of Air con or other parasitics (not Tommy) needs map?
Walbro fuel pump needs map?
Cleaning a MAF sensor post Ecutek needs map?
Fixing an exhaust or boost leak pre turbo post Ecutek needs map?
Colder spark plugs fitted needs map?
Aftermarket Back box or change to 3" piping on back box needs map?

So many tuning products/improvements get varying opinions.

Upgraded Turbo deffo needs a map, not sure if it does if it's a like for like replacement though.

As for a service product that has been tested to give a substantial increase in power I'm not so sure.

Not taking the **** here but I've just replaced a 3mm actuator vacuum hose with a 4mm one, does that in itself need a remap?

Nah lol but I'd be interested to see if it made any difference to the response of the boost control system!

Had a bit of a read about this, doesn't appear to cause much of a problem unless there's a lot of air to move from a large space.

Do-Luck panel filter, Millers Nanodrive oil and removing the aircon are all rumoured to give circa 10bhp each. Removing the up-pipe cat might give another 5bhp without strictly needing a map asap.

It'd be cool to see a before and after BHP figure in regards to them.
