Default Help a Newbie! Remapping PPP ECU?

Hi to all.
This is my very first post in this forum and probably not the last one.
I'm from Germany and I recently bought a Blobeye WRX STi Prodrive from 2003.
The previous owner installed a blow off valve and I noticed the engine is stuttering after blowing off.
So I thought "Okay, he installed the valve but forgot to remap the ECU."
I then started researching about that Prodrive thing.
From what I read/understood there are Prodrive versions of the STi.
They are only sold in the UK and understandably they are RHD. Is that correct?
Because my car is LHD I assume that I have the Prodrive Performance Package installed.
Furthermore I read that the original ECU is not fully replaced by the PPP one, but that there is just a chip added to the original ECU.
Is that also correct?

If that's true, will I have problems remapping the ECU with that added PPP chip? Is it smarter to get rid of that BOV and bring it back to its original state?

I hope my English isn't too confusing.
Thanks in advance, guys.

Hi there

Welcome to Scoobynet

You don't need to have car mapped for BOV,although car can run bit richer, but only when you lift off throttle

On earlier cars PPP has been chip as you are said, but on later cars has been PPP as part of the map/flash

You will gain lot more going with EcuTek or Open Source mapping,PPP is good, but still is no match for EcuTek or Open Source mapping

If I would remove BOV/Dump valve? I would and fit standard recirc valve which only helps on longer run.

What BOV/Dump valve are you running ?

If its Bailey then I would remove and sell this, its rubbish

Thanks,Jura

I'm running a HKS BOV. I don't know which model though and I can't check right now.

Thanks for your answer, Jura. Now I can take the Scooby to the mapping specialist.

I've got a 2005 WRX PPP. After some basic mods I had it remapped by Bob Rawle and achieved 279/304. It's like driving a different car .
When he showed me the previous map it said OE so it must have the PPP chip.

Welcome by the way
