Default Ecu swap problem. Help

I've just purchased a used Z4 ecu with bozspeed chip for my '94 wrx. I've swapped the ecu over and tried to start, but all I get is relays clicking and also the fans are spinning when trying to crank. It cranks, but is not firing at all... Anyone aware of a problem that could be causing this? Any help would be much appreciated, as I am stuck with the car in bits

Thanks

It runs fine on my standard ecu, and also on a standard Z4 that I have here. Soon as I plug the chipped Z4 in and turn ignition to the 'on' position, sounds like every relay is clicking inside the car and under the bonnet. It cranks over too, but doesn't fire at all

Cheers

that's for later cars.

sounds like the chip is not working. badly seated dry joint etc.
as andy says connect the j1 resistor back up to rule it out.
