I've heard the maffs can be problematic at high power levels

the MAF restriction isn't really an ECUtek restriction though it's a stock ECU hardware restriction.

If you can upgrade the MAP sensor and switch to speed density using ECUtek or opensource you can still use the standard ECU.

Ok but with upgraded map sensor, how much hp do you think is possible to reach still using maf?
Is it much work to switch to speed density?

The MAF tube itself can physically flow around 370 g/s of air before it's the bottleneck, that's enough air for a hypothetical 490hp give or take (depends on turbo/fuel/timing/temperatures etc.).

How close you can get to that in the real world is another story and you'll have to look at the unique factors of your setup.

It's not an impossible task to switch to speed density as the technology for it is quite well developed now, but you'll need to be quite dedicated to it if you want to DIY the task.

There's a nice little table of MAF voltage to approximate horsepower on NASIOC:

Hi there

Yours ECU if its earlier Blob will not allow you to run SD(Speed density) via EcuTek,EcuTek RaceROM is only for DBW cars or cars with DBW,if you want to run SD(mafless) then you will need to use OS(CarBerry ROM) or aftermarket ECU like is Syvecs,AlcaTek,MoTeC

Bigger MAF you can try,but you can suffer with driveability issue,I would try to run blow through MAF,which should be better suited if you are going with Twisted/Rotated setup

Hope this helps

Thanks,Jura

You haven't said what model and model year you have ... thats the key to get a correct answer to the question you asked, depending on that it may or may not be possible, I am running nearly 600 bhp using the poem ecu and maf without any issues, MY2007 Hawkeye, you won't do that on anything using the earlier 16 bit ecu.

Blow through mass do not gain you anything in terms of ecu capability

cheers
