First 90 Degree handbrake
Hey All,
Just done my first naughty thing in my car on a country land in kedleston, handbreaked in round a 90 degree corner, n puled of with a bit of pace, in my MK3 golf, good practice for when i get my scoob in 8 weeks (Touch Wood).
Just wanted to know, how to you acceerate out quciker???

i find it hard to do that ,ive tried using the gas, but i dnt have power steering, i just apply the break and the handbreak and it comes ound nicely.
how would you do it in a 4x4

this is how you handbrake a scooby
first speed up to approx 100mph then pull the handbrake while stamping on the footbrake in small pulses, then violently start wiggling the steering wheel to and fro, this will put you into a fantastic scandanaivian flick, once its slideing sideways, then apply full throttle and full oppisite lock, because of the clever subaru 4wd system, it will auto correct everything for you, just hold full lock and keep the throttle locked down, when the car stops take off full lock and you can then pat yourself on the back for a fantastic move.
you will always be remberd by your mates for your full on manouvre

No problems with handbraking an Impreza as long as you declutch
Owbow - get on MSN - need to sort out a run on the Cilwendeg rally this year and as you're a taff there's more chance of getting an entry if i navigate for you

easily done, even in a Uk.
Declutch, steer, handbrake..
Once sliding get off the handbrake quick, up with the clutch and all the way down (in first or second) with the throttle.
I was showing off to the apprentice the other day outside the local shop, couldn't be arsed to do a three point turn, so just accelerated forward to get parallel with a side road junction (more room for the tail to swing into) a full 180 and a four wheel wheelspin back to work in the opposite direction all in one fluid movement.

IT all depends on which scoob you have, ones with A-DCCD or DCCD you can handbrake them, though i still dont know why people would want to, but with the rest.... you are running a 4wd car, you lock the rear 2 wheels up and you put serious stress on the rear diff, it only has so much give and once it goes, your stuffed....
(remembering that all 4 wheels work together, would you shove a stick on the rear wheel of a bike when both wheels are going? clunk!!)
