Done a ECU reset for the hell of it last night, by connecting the under dash connectors as opposed to disconnecting the battery.

After the specified drive, the 'Check Engine' light reported error code 43 (4 slow and 3 fast flashes, followed by a pause).

None of the information that I have lists Code 43, so what could it be ?

I've had this problem too - I posted it on here - if search was working I'd point you to it it

"The mystery fault code 43 - only after a ECU reset (and not stored or ever seen again) was - traced to the throttle pot!"

"The Subaru dealer - was really surprised - he tested it & said there was nothing wrong with it - but could not explain - why fault code 43 was being registered - or why it wasn't stored!? He believed it to be a PPP thing - Prodrive say its not -

Scooby Racer thought it be red-herring - to do with automatic transmission sensor or some sort that the PPP has code for (ie specific to Jap Models) but the standard UK ECU doesn't."

Would be interested to see if any other Pre MY97 PPP owners get the same error code 43 at the completion of an ECU reset.

Maybe I'll even put the old ECU back in & see if I get the same - error (should have thought about that earlier!) - if I do get the same error then it may be worth tweaking or replacing the throttle pot anyway.

Thoughts?

Cheers all,

Chris

Thought I'd seen or heard of Code 43 on here B4. Maybe it's just a PPP thing then.

Throttle POT is code 31 according to the Manual.

I think I'm gonna have to fit that switch, so that I can switch between PPP and Stock.
I'll porbably put it next to the ECU Reset Switch I have fitted in the cubby hole by me right knee.

The throttle switch is combined in the throttle potentiometer on an Impreza (its located on the throttle housing).
Could be a spurious code but check your throttle cable is not too tight as it can pull the linkage of its stop.
I dont see how it can only be related to the PPP when all Scoobs have them
