has any one worked out how to run an external wastegate with a standard computer??
Code 44 is looking for a wastegate and im running a exteranl and wanting to use a evc valve controller do I need to runn asoleniod to fool the ecu??
Anyhelp most appreciated

It is easy to stop the CEL - either leave the solenoid electrically connected pneumatically disconnected or if you want the space, use a resistor instead of the solenoid.

On MY00 UK I used a 10 K resistor from the ECU wastegate solenoid duty cycle output connected to 12 V and then you can remove the solenoid without a CEL.

The resistor is a much higher value than the original solenoid (which means it can be a small cool running low power one, but conducts enough to stop the CEL.

This also works on MY02 US. Note that the solenoid is low side drive hence connecting the resistor to 12 V as a dummy solenoid.

Check out a wiring diagram for your car to confirm it is the same before proceeding.

one last think John is the fault code enough to put the car in limp mode eg no turbo??

I never drove with it on, but I believe it does not limit engine speed.
