Question

After my previous post about fitting an ITG filter and Scooby sport back box, the majority thought it best to do the centre section (de-cat)too. But which one?

Jamie from Performance exhausts is best on price so far for a Magnex de-cat, so this could be the one I go for. What does any one think?

Magnex Centre with resonator.....

Halfords who fitted free then. A few others have the Magnex centre straight through fitted free aswell....

Halfords recently sold garages to AA so this might not be the case anymore.

Magnex is definitely the best value for what is essentially the same as anyone elses centre pipe, and higher quality than most.

Let me know when you decide.

I've just fitted a Magnex decat centre with resonator and it seems slightly quieter than the standard centre. I haven't given it a long test yet on a motorway to see if it drones but on first impressions its great. I also have a SS back box and ITG filter.
I have also noticed that there is slightly less turbo lag now.
If anyone else has fitted one could they let me know whether they thightened the new longer bolts which the springs are put on fully as my springs have nearly completely compressed and the bolt will still keep doing up. I just wondered if they need a bit of slack in them so that joint can flex or is it safe to do it up really tight.

So - are you recommending the Magnex back box and centre section ? I have a MY00 and am thinking about a change from the original system. Whats the price for both parts ??

OK Guys

Just put a magnex BB on (great sound thanks for the recommendation Jamie!). Want to add an ITG panel filter and a mid section to improve the breathing a bit more. What is the diffeernce in perfomance between the mid-section with/without resonator? How much of a noise difference is there between the two?

TIA

Rich

I was thinking of getting the Magnex de-cat (without resonator) as I don’t mind a noisy exhaust, plus it is half the price, and I cant really stretch to around £120 at the moment.

Is there really that much difference in noise levels to justify the extra cost? I don’t do much motorway driving so I’m not sure which one to go for now. What would any one else do?

Either way I’m sure I’ll get there eventually

Not a great deal of difference really as the Magnex isn't a noisy system anyway.

Hello,

I have a Magnex non resonator centre on order and have been waiting for 3 weeks now (Supply problems I think) when it finally arrives it will be mated to a Scoobysport downpipe and backbox, has anyone else got this set up and if so what does it sound like?

Thanks

George, will be interesting to hear your comments (if i dont beat you to it that is )

Popped into Halfords/Ripspeed this afternoon to see about their prices, as someone has posted that is where they got theirs. The price I got was a bit cheaper than from Jamie (Performance exhausts), I'm assuming it is exactly the same part

Keep me posted any way

James

p.s. Jamie, got the filter ok on Friday. Cheers mate

Question

Hello All,

Got fed up with waiting for my Magnex centre pipe (About 7 weeks) and decided to spend that little bit extra and go for the Scoobysport one. However when I tried to fit it it was about 6 inches too short. I thought that all the centre pipes were the same length, has anyone else had this problem, dodgy one perhaps?
Should have another one on its way tomorrow, Car is MY98 with SS backbox and downpipe.

Thanks

George
