Default Rear prop rough joint- can it be replaced?

Morning all

I have recently changed the rear diff on my jdm blob and whilst putting car back together I noticed that the rear most joint on the prop, that bolts to the rear diff flange has a lot of roughness there, it does not move freeley as it should, however it does move but you can feel it pickin up on the roller splines inside.

So my question is can they be replaced? They look pressed on so im not too sure, and when looking at the joint you can see where the grease has been escaping from it hence causing the roughness I can feel.

Any advice is much appreciated

Cheers

Craig

I had the same problem on my JDM Blob and looked into having it re-conditioned. I was told by Subaru that they can't be repaired, but I spoke to a few Propshaft specialists who said they could replace the UJ's. Think the cost I was quoted was around £200. In the end I decided to just get a second hand shaft.

Can I ask why you changed the diff and how much for a new one?

I changed the rear diff as I had a clunking noise coming from the rear, checked through all possible causes but later found that the crown and pinion inside the diff was moving about and hitting the casing from what i can gather, so purchased another from scooby spares and all cured cost was £275 delivered will be having my old one overhauled as a spare and will probably fit it back to the car once done tbh, but now im getting vibrations coming from somewhere on over run and the only thing i can tie it to is the uj joint where it can not move freely

i thought i may require a second hand prop tbh as i ain't had much luck in finding any other alternative solutions, hence my post

I had the rear UJ changed on my six speed prop recently by a local company who specialise in this. Cost was £100.

It is a whole new UJ that is welded onto the prop and then check balanced. Will need to dig out the stuff for it.
