Hi
I am going to have my P1 boost raised from 13.5(standard)to 16.5.The person that is going to do it for me said i will get more power but mainly a lot more torque by tweeking the turbo.Any body got ideas on how much power and torque?

And here was me thinking that a P1 ran 17peak 16 held as standard.

13.5psi sounds very low for standard car.

8 lbft / PSI is an APPROXIMATE rule of thumb. Of course the top end power will depend on how much more torque there is at the peak power point and where it is in the rev range, so you can increase mid range torque and gain no top end if you went to standard boost by 6000 RPM and changed nothing else for example. I always like to think about the area under the torque or power curve between two engine speeds - gives a much better story.

P1 runs 1.1 bar standard!

I wouldn't put it up to 16.5 psi! - I'm running the link 10 row ECU in mine and it runs at (from memory knackared boost guage at the moment) 1.4 bar spike - 1.3 held boost!

bye bye engine on standard internals with that sort of boost! - plus i'm not sure if your turbo will even boost that high (it won't I don't think)

p.s. Trout/david - my idle is spot on now! - thanks for your help on Sunday!

oh dear though you wrote 1.35 bar not 13.5 psi!

trout is right though - 16 odd psi is about right.

mine is a little more and the midrange is so much better now - wants to go all the time - especially when there is only one in the car

can recommend doing it if it is done properly!
