link ecu can`t connect to pc

Hi All.
I just tried to mount the link v5 to my car tonight and the car starts just fine,but When i mountet the seriallink kit it can`t detect that there is a link connectet.
Anybody know what could be the problem.
It is not becourse it is in the wrong com-port.
Any info is welcome.

Sounds as though you have the wrong RS232 cable, it should be pin 1 to pin 1 etc.

I will check tomorrow.
It is properly right as i had male conector in the laptop and a female in the seriallink and the cable did not match so i put it together with another cable to get it to match!.

If need be, you can buy what they call a *gender changer* for these plugs. Basically it's the configuration of the pins within. Local computer stores have them and can advise.
