Question

I have been offered a secondhand prodive stainless steel decatted down pipe.
I would like to know if anyone else has one of these fitted and if they are any good. I havent heard much about a prodrive downpipe on here before.

Most people either have HKS or SS down pipes.

Do Prodrive even make a downpipe?
Is it a simple proceedure to fit a downpipe. I dont have ramps or any thing so could ATS or Kwik-Fit do it easily?

And one more question do insurance companies actually check these things if involved in accident? How does insurance man know what is standard exhaust or not if he looks at so many different cars every day?

Thanks

Derek.

well watch out for flanges (restrictions). If the DP is used in gr.N or WRC they are restricted for FIA regulation.

In theory it's pretty simple, having watched TSL fit mine. However, add in some sheared turbo studs and general agro, best to get somewhere like ScoobySport, TSL, ScoobyMania etc to do it.

Racing turbo cars have , after the turbo (the beginning od the dp) a 34 mm (if i remember propely) width of the pipe to decrease the amount of power obtainable.

Thanks for that.

So i guess on inspection that would be easy to spot (ie any restriction within the diameter of the pipe).

Are the fittings standard sizes ie for bolting downpipe to turbo end and the exhaust end?

it depends if the previous car had a different turbo, but most likely yes, it should be the same. Actually it's more probable if the car was a gr. N whereas if the car was a wrc I suspect they might be different.

Hello,

Some time ago, I was offered a Prodrive Downpipe also.
I contacted Prodrive, and after an few mailings, I deceided NOT to buy the downpipe.
The downpipe isn't a bold on.

I have drawings at my desk, and when I have time this weekend( probably going to the Nurburgring), I wil scan them for you and post them here or mail.

Just leave your mailadress, if you want to.

Greetings,

Hans de Jong

Caronte, just for information the restrictor is fitted before the turbo to limit the amount of air that can be drawn in.
